This past weekend played host to the very first Power Con, a convention dedicated He-man and the Masters of the Universe. It was actually a double convention. Thunder Con, the second part of this double-billing, is a convention dedicated to Thundercats. There wasn’t much in the way of Thundercats presence there, but Mattel certainly showed up to represent MOTU and even held a panel. Hot Topic, who previously had a number of Sailor Moon shirts on sale, as reported by Powet, has lots of new products on sale including a full on Sailor Moon Halloween costume.

The costume itself looks kind of cheap, but that cheapness is mostly relegated to the locket, tiara and hair covers. If a cosplayer used a locket toy and spend some effort into making more high quality versions of those cheap parts, they could put together quite a costume!

I’ll never forget when my brother and I unwrapped our Playstation that Christmas morning 15 years ago. Amongst the cables and controllers was a disc featuring previews of several games. PLAYABLE previews of several games. This was important as all three of the games we got were fighting games (Tekken 2, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Street Fighter Alpha 2) and it being the holiday, it would be a while before we would increase our collection. That was okay, because the demo disc we got held wonders beyond imagination. Playable demos of King of Fighters 95 and ESPN Extreme Games, and videos of Jet Moto and Twisted Metal 2 were among the discs’ many hidden goodies. There were also several hidden codes, and you could even listen to some tracks by putting the CD in your player. Another memorable disc came with an Official Playstation Magazine issue that I picked up the summer after my freshman year in college. It contained Threads of Fate, Deception 3, and X-men Mutant Academy. I ended up buying most of the games featured on the disc. Since the early days of disc-based gaming, a demo disc has been one of the best ways to sample games before thier release.

Hard to believe, but Cartoon Network has been running their “Adult Swim” lineup for 10 years now. In our roundtable, we discuss the best, the worst and the just plain weirdest shows that have run during the night time hours and its evolution from a once a week special to a nightly ritual.

In addition, aDam will talk about The Secret Circle, Genius loses his mind over Guardian Heroes, and Crazy takes his Toy Soldiers to war.

While the 3DS was cleaning up at Tokyo Game Show, Sony announced that the PS Vita would be region-free — unlike its Nintendo competitor. The war is heating up! Who will win the holiday season this year? Will it be enough to turn things around for Sony? Sean and Vinnk reflect on the final two public days of Tokyo Game Show, if mobile devices and “the cloud” are really the future of the gaming industry and the current oneupsmanship between Nintendo and Sony is really all for naught.

It looks like one of the Transformers designers from TakaraTomy dropped a bombshell on twitter. While showing some images of the new MP10 Optimus Prime figure, Shogo Hasui also posted a picture of a rough Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. The image shown is a very rough concept of slapping armor onto the latest version of the Masterpiece Optimus Prime mold. Obviously, this is very rough, but it sure looks like it has potential.
