The Avengers Super Bowl Trailer Extended Cut

I missed The Avengers teaser that ran during the Superb Owl. Turns out that I didn’t need to see it, since the Avengers Facebook page posted an extended version.

I can’t tell you what is extra about this one, but I can tell you that we see The Hulk and we have confirmation of the army that it will take to bring the team together.

The Avenegers, directed by Joss Whedon, will release on May 4. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, and Stellan Skarsgård.

$20 Game of The Week: God of War III (PS3)

GOW II started and ended on a pretty intense note, so naturally, stakes were high for the follow-up, which would be Kratos’s PS3 debut. When we last left Kratos, he was leading the titans in a war against the gods of Olympus, who had betrayed him in the title. As you can imagine, things get crazy from the get-go, and players will be on the edge of their seats to see how the saga ends. The gameplay doesn’t depart much from the previous titles, and that’s a good thing. You even get to keep the relics you found in GOW II: The Wings of Icarus and Apollo’s Fleece. Don’t you hate it when you play a sequel starring the previous game’s protagonist and you lose all the cool stuff they had without explanation? You’ll also gain a host of new weapons, each with a magical power attached to it. Series staples such as quick time events, orb upgrading, and even the sex minigames return. God Of War III once again cements Kratos’s status as one of gaming’s biggest action heroes.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Rampant Speculation

The Wii U is set to launch by the end of 2012… but is it really? We’ve been seeing the same tech demo since E3 2011, but no actual titles running on Wii U hardware. Will Nintendo make the projected launch date, or is it all smoke and mirrors? Sean and Vinnk disagree about what this means, encourage Sony to get out of the hardware market since the PS3 has never gotten above third place in North America, the PS Vita’s launch has been a larger thud than the one for 3DS, and rumors that the Next Xbox from Microsoft will somehow ban used games. RAMPANT SPECULATION!

Lost Classics: The Warrior King (a.k.a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat vs Wing Commander vs Savage Dragon))

Seeing as how the cast of Street Fighter will go head to head against the cast of Tekken in a month, this week’s lost classics takes a look at another crossover, similar to the GiJoe/Mortal Kombat “crossover” from 2 weeks ago. This time, not only does Street Fighter meet Mortal Kombat, but it also crosses over with Wing Commander and Savage Dragon. No, Savage Dragon didn’t take on Shang Tsung nor did Ryu and Sub Zero take on the Kilarthi. Instead, this was a rather subtle crossover involving a mysterious character that showed up throughout TV adaptations all 4 franchises. What? You thought this was a video game? If only it could be.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation Super Bowl Ad

Yeah, this starts with Dwayne Johnson quoting Jay-Z, but we also see Cobra Commander again. The first G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer only saw a blink of him, leading more than a few fans to cry that it was just a random Viper.

But upon closer focus in this ad, there can be no debate. This is Cobra Commander.

Really digging that mask. I see elements of the old Commander silver mask, Serpentor, the standard Viper infantry, and the IDW comics Cobra Commander.

Retaliation will release on June 29, 2012 in the US.

Powetcast 113: Open A New Tab

This show begins as we’re waiting to start the show. Crazy opens a new tab, Zac is at a loss for what to talk about, and aDam floods our inboxes with links.

This episode we discuss the movies Underworld Awakening, Source Code, and American Splendor. Then we send a Lego Man into space and have a surprisingly frank discussion on whether used games will be welcome in the next generation of consoles.

Don’t get upset if you don’t hear music right away. It is coming.
