Grimlock smashes in new ‘Fall of Cybertron’ images, video

For months now we’ve been teased with the inclusion of the famed Dinobots in the next Transformers game, Fall of Cybertron.

Now we really get to see Grimlock in action. We have 4 high resolution stills of Grimlock from the game. That’s not enough? OK, here is two and a half minutes of footage with narration from High Moon Studios Matt Tieger.

We see Grimlock performing very differently from other characters in the game. He is all close combat, using an energon shield and sword, swiping at Insecticons that threaten him 3 or 4 at a time. When he’s taken (or dished out) enough abuse, he hulks out and becomes a T Rex and has a move set that includes swping with his tail, stomping the ground and biting enemies in half. Keep an eye out for another Dinobot at the end of the video as well.

Battle Beasts return with comic from IDW and toys from DST

Its been quite a while since the Diamond Select Toys scooped up the Battle Beasts rights in 2009. They have released a few variations of an exclusive Crocodile Battle Beast to gain excitement and showed off some new sculpts at SDCC 2010, but thats about it. No plans or announcements had been made.

Recently, however, a countdown site went live at http://www.diamondselecttoys.com/battle-beasts.html. It has been counting down for over a month and will end tomorrow. Tomorrow also marks the beginning of C2E2.

Fortunately for us, IDW broke the news before Diamond Select’s countdown has finished. A new comic fleshing out a new story for the Battle Beasts franchise is on its way from IDW Publishing. Not only that, but they have put up a website showing off some comic art and design art for the ram-like character, Vorin. An exclusive translucent red version of Vorin will be available as a convention exclusive at C2E2. Vorin was not among the new sculpts shown at SDCC 2010.

More info after the jump!

New Care Bears series “Welcome to Care-a-Lot” coming to the Hub this summer

The Hub President and CEO Margaret Loesch and Share Bear announce "Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot"

A new Care Bears series will be coming soon to the Hub. Earlier this month when announcing their 2012-2013 program slate a new series “Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot” was announced. No real details were given at the time aside from it being CGI and airing starting this summer. Here’s the relevant part of that press release:

“Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot” (Hub Original Series)

Take one step into Care-a-Lot and prepare for wishes to come true and unbelievable adventures to ensue! Coinciding with the property’s 30th anniversary, a new CGI-animated series “Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot” is set to debut this summer to reconnect with kids and families. Care-a-Lot is the high-above-the-earth home of the Care Bears – the coolest, most caring-est, magical friends around! It’s a whimsical world where the Care Bears help children navigate their feelings through music, love, belly-badge powers and great big Care Bear hugs. Produced by American Greetings Properties, “Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot” will premiere on The Hub in summer 2012.

Today this image was posted on The Hub twitter page, showing the Hub President and CEO Margaret Loesch with Share Bear as they welcome the new Care Bears series “Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot”. Does this mean Share Bear will be featured prominently in the show? Will they be considerably larger than your average adult human as this scale suggests? Not much is known, but The Hub is hoping that this rejuvenated 80s franchise, like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, will have great success! We wish we had more to share, like art, cast and crew information, picture of Grumpy Bear … pretty much anything. We promise that, like Share Bear would want, we will share more information as it comes our way. Here at Powet we’re hoping for another high quality show from the Hub.

The Voltron display was about as disappointing as the Thundercats display from Bandai. Mattel had the 5 lions from the MattyCollector.com Voltron Force subscription on display. Nothing from the new Voltron Force series was displayed aside from placards promoting the show.

Continue after the jump for a few shots of the subscription lions and pilots.

Toy Fair 2012: Playmates TMNT

Playmates has put together a surprisingly nice showing for their long time Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license. They had a basic line of figures that matches up to the new forthcoming animated series from Nickelodeon, the new owners of the franchise. They also had a collector’s line that seemed very well received. To top it all off, Playmates had a massive new sewer playset that will be a sure hit for any kids whose parents can afford it.
