NY Toy Fair 2020: GI Joe Classified – new 6 inch action figure line revealed

A new 6 inch scale action figure line for GI Joe was announced at New York Toy Fair; GI Joe Classified. This follows the popularity of Marvel Legends and Star Wars The Black Series lines of 6 inch scale figures. Starting in the 1960s as a 12 inch scale line of toys, the franchise pivoted in the 1980s to a 3 3/4 inch scale that it has largely stuck to until today. While other lines, including Marvel Universe and Star Wars, have experimented at the smaller scale, this is the first time the franchise is trying out the 6 inch scale for its main line, though there was an attempt at a 7 inch scale for Sigma 6 (2005-2007).

The line up for the first wave includes the following:
Duke
Scarlett
Roadblock
Snake Eyes (Hasbro Pulse Exclusive)

Attendees at the NYTF panel also received an exclusive poster promoting the line with character art of the first wave and beyond.

Four Horsemen Studios tease Mythic Legions 2.0 Kickstarter

Four Horsemen Studios has teased their fans with a video letting us know about a Kickstarter campaign for the next offering of Mythic Legions action figures. The Kickstarter is slated to start January 27th, 2017, titled Mythic Legions 2.0: Advent of Decay.

This Kickstarter will likely feature many of the figures we saw at SDCC 2016. That display can be seen below in a photo from ToyArk’s coverage. Notably, most of the figures in this display are female, which should help supplement the current all male line-up.

In addition, one of the Horsemen posted a picture on Facebook showing off the Mythic Legions Trolls in packaging next to a normal size figure. The Trolls are in their warehouse and being prepped for shipment.

SDCC 2015: Mattel has acquired the Thundercats license and has product at the show

MATTEL-thundercat-logo

ToyNewsInternational is reporting that Mattel’s presence at SDCC will be marked by the acquisition of the Thundercats toy license. Mattel has figures to show off based on the classic cartoon in scale with MOTU Classics figures. Lion-O and Vulture have, reportedly been sighted on the floor at SDCC.

Bandai last had the license in 2011, accompanying a failed reboot of the cartoon series on Cartoon Network. With MOTU Classics supposedly winding down this year, Mattel needs another big franchise to supplement MattyCollector. It sounds like they have found that in Thundercats.

We will be reporting further updates as the week and coverage continue!
