Resident Evil Creator to Get own Action Figure

Seems Shinji Mikami, creator of Capcom’s titular survival horror video game series Resident Evil is getting his own action figure!

At least, that’s what the April Fool’s joke would lead you to believe.

Capcom Unity and AndriaSang.com reports that several hoax images have been created by Tango Gameworks (who Mikami now works for after having left Capcom a few years back) that feature Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami as a full-blown action figure that comes with accessories such as a shavable beard, a button that launches him into outer space depending on how much praise you give him, and shouts such quotes as “This Armani suit cost an arm ‘n a leg” and “If Shumacher had his own meal, you think he’d call it stewmacher?

Mikami worked on all the Resident Evil games right up until Resident Evil 4, as well has having a hand in producing Devil May Cry (what originally started out as being Resident Evil 4), Dino Crisis, Killer 7 and God Hand.

Spider-man: Edge of Time announced

A new Spider-man game has been announced from Activision and developer Beenox called Edge of Time. This will feature both Spider-man and Spider-man 2099. The game centers around the death of Peter Parker, the Amazing Spider-man and how Spider-man 2099, Miguel O’Hara’s very own dark and catastrophic future is a direct result of Parker’s death. Gameplay will center on Miguel traveling back in time to cause change and moving forward in time to determine the effect. Its a neat concept that has led to many great stories in fiction, but could easily get very convoluted. Fortunately, the game is in good hands with Peter David writing the story. David is not only a comic book writing veteran, but he was also the long time scribe on the Spider-man 2099 series.

Attendees at WonderCon, this weekend, will apparently get the first look at the new game.

Consider me excited for more Spider-man 2099!

Five Reasons Sucker Punch Is Better Than Avatar

Over the last 2 years, I’ve been dogged by the fact that I though Avatar was an overrated turd, and now I’ve got the ideal underrated gem to compare it to. Both rely heavily on their visual effects to tell a story and I’ll spell out five reasons why I think Sucker Punch is better than Avatar.

Wonder Woman Set Pictures, The Costume Has Changed!

On the left, we have the first on set picture of Adrianne Palicki in the Wonder Woman costume. As you can see, the costume has change significantly from our first look. The shiny pants are gone, and the boots are now red. The stars on the legs were there before, but are a little more visible thanks to a change in the material.

The photo on the right is the same costume worn by someone who is clearly Palicki’s body/stunt double. Or maybe she’s making a weird face. Either way, she’s jumped up on top of that car, so we can look forward to Wonder Woman doing that in the pilot.

What do you think? Is this an improvement on the costume, like the old way better, or still think another direction was needed? Leave a comment below!

Mortal Kombat Full Roster Leaked

The new Mortal Kombat is less than a month away from its release on April 19th in the US, and despite not having officially released trailers or imagery for all the characters that will be playable in the game, some new images have been leaked that show the entire roster of the game along with the each character’s VS portrait.
The image shows several characters that had been more or less “revealed” as going to be in the game, yet hadn’t had any renders released. Likewise, the new “Cyborg Sub-Zero” portrait is included, signifying him as a possible unlockable character.

A character selection screen has also been leaked in tangent with the VS portraits. Both images can be found on the Mortal Kombat Online forums, along with a collection of other leaks and information and game speculation, including info on Kenshi revealed not long ago as a DLC character, along with the titular “Lady in Red” (the character fans long ago nicknamed “Skarlett” from previous fan fame). We’ll keep you updated with any more info as it comes out, including the supposed Xbox exclusive character creator Ed Boon has been hinting towards in his twitter that will be opposite the PS3 exclusive Kratos.

Lost Classics: ClayFighter (SNES, Genesis, Wii Virtual Console)

While Interplay’s Clayfighter might not have been the best fighting game of the SNES days, it was certainly the most creative and original. At the least, it’s art style put it head and shoulders above other SFII rip offs. It also had a pretty creative ad campaign, which parodied other fighting games. When a meteor made of clay lands on in a circus, the clay infects the circus employees, transforming them into strange clay creatures based on their own personalities. Among them are an Elvis impersonator, an evil snowman, an blob of clay that can change its shape, and Helga, an opera singer. The animation style is unique, and the action will keep you in stitches. A “Tournament edition” was released, which fixed many of the game’s glitches and added some new play modes. There were a number of sequels released, and a DSIware/Wiiware revival has been planned. The game is available on Virtual Console. It may not be Street Fighter, but it will keep you in stitches the whole time you play it.

$20 Game of the Week: Angry Birds (Iphone OS, Android 2.1+)

Created by Finland development studio Rovio Interactive, Angry Birds is undoubtedly last year’s Plants vs Zombies. That is, a game developed for casual audiences that gets over with mainstream gamers, finding intensive success, to the point of becoming a pop culture icon. Why are these birds so angry? Simple. Green-skinned pigs have stolen their eggs, so now the birds are ready to cause some serious damage to get their revenge. By controlling their slingshot, you launch the birds at huge wooden structures in an attempt to destroy the pigs within. When you complete a level, you gain extra points for eac unused bird and each part of the structure that’s destroyed. As you progress in the game, you get to use birds with different abilities. This is available on Iphone OS and Android (2.1 and up), but the company is seeking to bring it to PSP, Xbox Live Arcade, Wii, Windows Phone 7, and PC. There are also two stand alone spinoffs. Angry Birds Seasons, which contains holiday-themed levels, and Angry Birds Rio, a free entry based on the upcoming film of the same name which sees players trying to free birds who have been kidnapped by poachers. There are also plans for a TV show and movie based on this new franchise. Angry birds is proof that independent games are becoming bigger than ever, and can even give mainstream games a run for their money. It’s only a dollar, so check it out.
