Many who are familiar with the Masters of the Universe franchise are familiar with the diverse and comical cast of villains. Many of the characters in general were named pretty obviously; Fisto had a big fist, Skeletor had a skull for a head, Tri-klops had 3 eyes, Webstor was a big spider guy, Ninjor was a ninja and Spikor was a henchman with lots of spikes. The people naming these characters should have taken the moniker Masters of the Obvious. Not to be outdone by those examples, though, they went ahead and named an anthropomorphic skunk, Stinkor.

The Transformers Collector’s Club has revealed new official images of their club membership freebie figure for 2011. The figure will be a redecoed Classics Rodimus as Sideburn from the Robots in Disguise series. To get your chance at owning this figure, all you need to do is join the club before March 16, 2011 and you will automatically qualify to receive this free figure. If you join after March 16, then you will be eligible for the next year’s figure which will be announced somewhere down the road, probably a year from now, if I had to guess.

 

The Transformers Collector Club has posted the cover of the next issue of their club magazine featuring Generations Perceptor and previously unannounced Wreck-Gar. This issue should be hitting mailboxes soon!

Powered Convoy over at the Allspark has assembled a great collection of the latest images of Masterpiece Rodimus Prime. These photos are full color and are the best look yet at what is in store for this figure. The key part of the gallery is a scan from E-Hobby showing all of the features of the figure (shown above). In my meanderings across the interwebz, I came across this interesting article about some uncovered notes from Hasbro’s line of WWF figures from the early 90’s. Since this was around the time I was interested in wrestling, I found some of this particularly interesting. I did a little more digging and found the Flickr photostream of the pictures’ original source. Check out the article and then give the photos a look-through. I really liked the cartoony feel of those older figures. I think the newer figures that use the RealScan technology are missing that something that appealed to me as a kid. Maybe its just that there’s no modern incarnation of Hulk Hogan’s Rock n’ Wrestling.

This week I take a look at Thrust. I had to read his TFWiki entry to find something interesting about him, but I mostly stuck to what I know.

I do mention Thrust from Beast Wars II as well as Thrust from Beast Machines, just to get some sake of continuity of character, or lack there of. For such a descriptive name, its been used on a few very different characters.

I briefly mention Dino Riders in this episode too.

The internets are abuzz this morning with some color photos surfacing of the Masterpiece Rodimus Prime figure that we’ve heard about before and seen an unpainted prototype of at a recent convention in China. YFrog user GENograw posted images to his account showing not only Rodimus Prime (Rodimus Convoy), but also that he has the ability to become Hot Rod (Hot Rodimus) in both robot and vehicle mode. As we heard knew before, the trailer section will become the battle station as it did in Generation One. Better photos are now sure to follow.
