Minimates: Battlestar Galactica Wave 3

bsgbanner.jpg
Minimates are pretty hot lately and have announced quite a few new licenses that they have acquired. While all is well and good with expansion, we still appreciate that the current licenses are still getting their just attention. Battlestar Galactica is one license that got off to a very awkward start after DST and Art Asylum has some sort of…well, I’m not even sure what to call it, but the original plans for the first few waves were scrapped and DST set our expectations anew (and a little lower. We still want our Minimate Vipers and Raiders, DST!).

According to Minimate HQ, series 3 of the BSG Minimates was revealed in some promotional material at NYCC. The wave includes Kara Thrace & Lee Adama, D’Anna Biers & Sharon Valeri, Helo & Deck Chief Tyroll, and Helo & Tyroll (Chase). I’m sure Grace Park will be excited to see her likeness in a new mold. You can check out a full picture of the entire wave below.

Powet Toys: Marvel Legends Icons Thor and Hulk

Today, we take a look Thor and Hulk from the Marvel Legends Icons Line. This line features 14 inch tall figures with the same articulation of the standard 6 inch Marvel Legends line. You may remember taking a look at the first two figures in this line when we did the Powet Toys: Civil War edition.

Custom G1 Wheelie and Cyclonus

Meandering across message boards, as I do, I happened upon a link to a couple of cool customs. These customs were made from scratch and are based on the Transformers Generation 1 cartoon versions of Wheelie and Cyclonus. Check them out! They are surprisingly faithful to the original concept.

DC Minimates released

DClogoblue.jpgI went by my local comic shop on Wednesday to pick up the final issue of Civil War and the new Immortal Iron Fist and to my surprise, I found DC Minimates! While I didn’t pick any up on this trip, I did manage to score a free poster showing some of the upcoming figures and when they are expected to be released. Start hunting DC and Minimate fans!

Powet Toys: Transformers Classics Jetfire

As an added note the original mold for G1 Jetfire was a Macross VF-1S Valkyrie with “Super Valkyrie” armor according to wikipedia.

Head Exec at Cartoon Network resigns

Cartoon Network LogoNewsarama has a note up saying that Jim Samples, the head executive officer at Cartoon Network resigned on Friday due to fall out from the guerilla marketing campaign gone wrong in Boston for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. In an internal memo to the company, Samples stated that he hoped his resignation would allow this event to be put in the past and allow the company to move forward. The article goes on to say that he had been with the company for 13 years.

You can read the rest of the internal memo in the article here.

Speaking as a Bostonian, this is another footnote in an embarassing chapter of history for the city of Boston.
