The Incredible Hulk #100 – Civil War, Planet Hulk, Reprints, and More – UPDATED

Incredible Hulk #100This is gonna be one meaty issue of awesome. Not only do we get the first part of the last leg of Planet Hulk – Allegiance: Part 1 – but we also get a back up story with pencils by the awesome Gary Frank, fresh off his stretch on Squadron Supreme:

Incredible Hulk #100 Incredible Hulk #100 Incredible Hulk #100 Incredible Hulk #100 Incredible Hulk #100 Incredible Hulk #100

This back up story – which will also be written by the main story’s writer, Greg Pak – deals with events from Civil War (specifically, supposedly involving some new info about the Thor clone), and the Illuminati’s role in punting the Hulk into space, and ALSO someone finds out what happened to the Hulk. Gasp!

The super-duper-special anniversary issue will also include reprints of The Incredible Hulk #’s 3, 152 and 300. Issue #3 was chosen because it’s a story where the Hulk tore up Manhattan, which led to Dr. Strange exiling him (actually to space, according to the cover). #300 is a story … well, it seems to be one largely about the Hulk beating the crap out of stuff. Greg Pak hints that it might or might not be a teaser of World War Hulk, but more topically, it touches on the ideas of exile and of the Hulk being a monster. #152 is a story where the heroes of the Marvel U put the Hulk on trial, and try to decide whether the Hulk is hero enough, or too much monster. I’d say the connection’s only marginally less obvious than it is with issue 3.

Also, here’s some unlettered pages from the main issue. Art chores are by Carlo Pagulayan, who did the first arc, and he’s splitting this last arc with Aaron Lopresti, who did the second arc.

Updated – Previous articles indicated it would be issue #143 in the issue, but instead it’s issue #300. Sorry folks. On the upside, it makes previously confusing comments in other articles make a lot more sense, now that we know this. Also – We’ve added new images from the upcoming issue #100, both for the issue, and for Gary Frank’s pages.

Also, the issue will hit stands on November 1st, and it’ll cost $3.99.  I can’t wait!

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Story Trailer

Ever since MVC Infinite was revealed late last year, information about the game has been scarce. However, yesterday Capcom revealed part of the game’s story in the trailer above. Ultron and Sigma use the Infinity Stones to merge and create a new world. Surprising, as the story is all but nonexistent in most Capcom fighters, including MVC. The trailer also reveals several characters being a part of the game’s cast: The Hulk, Strider, Chun-li, Chris Redfield, Rocket Raccoon, Hawkeye, and Thor. Still an alarming lack of mutants however, and we’ve yet to see anyone completely new to MVC besides Captain Marvel, Ultron, and Sigma. No doubt we’ll see more in the coming months. For now, check out the trailer, and tell us what you think. MvC Infinite hits Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 19th.

X-Men Resurrexion Details – New Books, New Direction

x-men-resurrection

Since All-New Marvel had been announced, many fans feared that the X-men books were being thrown towards the wayside in favor of Disney-approved heroes, and that the Inhumans were taking the place of mutants as the ‘hated and feared’ superpowered minority of the Marvel Universe. Happily, these fears seem to be unfounded. For the past few weeks, Marvel has been hinting at a ‘Resurrexion’ for the X-men books. A teaser went out two weeks ago, and last week, several new books were revealed, each of which being a throwback of sorts to the past. However, they leave some interesting questions in their wake, especially since the creative teams behind each book have yet to be revealed.

$20 Game of the Week: Lego Marvel Super Heroes

lego_marvel_cover

With Captain America and the X-men having made their way back into theaters last month, now is a good time to look at one of the finest digital adventures featuring Marvel’s pantheon of heroes and villains. Before licencing issues would force Marvel to disavow the existence of any property whose movie rights were controlled by Fox, and before the company’s gaming department chose to focus on free-to-play mobile games, Marvel fans of all ages were treated to an excellent look at the Marvel Universe, Lego style, courtesy of Warner Brothers and Traveler’s Tales. Waitaminute….Warner Brothers? As in DC Warner Brothers? Well it’s simple. Warner Brothers has the licence to publish Lego Games, Lego has a licence to make toys based on Marvel characters, so it was only a matter of time before this game was made, and it excels as both a Marvel game and a Lego game.

Xenoblade Chronicles Arrives on Wii U Virtual Console

ku-bigpic
In what is no doubt good news for RPG fans who have yet to play Monolith Soft’s masterpiece, the Wii version of Xenoblade Chronicles is now available as a Wii U virtual console title for only $19.99. If you had trouble locating a physical copy of the game, and weren’t sold on the New 3DS version, now you can buy a digital version and play it with the Wii U gamepad. Xenoblade Chronicles was designed by Tetsuya Takahashi, and is a spiritual successor to Square’s Xenogears and Namco Bandai Xenosaga while being a spiritual predecessor to Xenoblade Chronicles X, which was released in the U.S this past December. The game tells the story of a world created on the remains of two warring giants, and a mysterious blade known as the Monado. Xenoblade earned praises for it’s unique storyline and battle system, and its main character, Shulk, became a playable character in the latest Smash Bros game while female character Fiora is a playable character in the recently released Project X-Zone 2. The original Wii release had a limited printing run, so newer copies of the game are increasingly rare and have costs consumers as much as $100. Fortunately, now that a digital version is available, everyone should be able to experience this classic.Mountains Photo

Marvel Movie Tie-ins Coming to Disney Infinity

Харматан

Earlier this week, Disney Infinity revealed 2016 plans for its Disney Infinity franchise. Although there doesn’t seem to be any 4.0 release this year, the company palns to release 4 separate playsets. One of which is the Marvel Battlegrounds playset set to be released this month. The set will include a new Captain America figure based on 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. Players can play Marvel Battlegrounds with any 2.0 and 3.0 Marvel character, including last year’s Ultron and Hulkbuster Iron Man figures. Also coming soon to 3.0 is Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Vision, right in time for Captain America: Civil War. Black Suit Spider-man from 2.0, previously only available with the Playstation Vita version of Disney Infinity 2.0 will be available by himself as well. Of course if you were hoping to see X-Men or Fantastic Four related characters, you’re out of luck. In non Marvel related 3.0 news, figures from Zootopia and the Jungle Book will be released for 3.0 this spring.

Long Delayed Street Fighter X Gi-Joe Comic Adaptation Finally Seeing the Light of Day this February!

gijoesf-01-covera-159580

..And only 23 years after the merchandising tie-ins! Well not exactly (the comic was onlyannounced at comic con this past summer), but IDW publishing is putting out a 6-issue miniseries that pits Capcom’s pugilists against Hasbro’s Real American heroes. Written by Aubrey Sitterson (Hulk, Superman, Tech Jacket) and penciled by Emilio Laiso (Hack/Slash), SFXGJ will see M.Bison and Destro team up to hold a martial arts tournament with fan favorites such Ryu, Snake Eyes, Chun-Li, and Scarlet looking to take them down. Hopefully this will lead into a sequel featuring characters from Mortal Kombat. Or an ACTUAL VIDEOGAME!!
