This was the big one for a lot of those following at home. Mattel had some big announcements to make including Ghostbusters, Voltron, DC Universe and most especially Masters of the Universe (MOTU). ActionFigurePics actually got video of the whole presentation (seen above). I will not attempt to summarize in neat bullet point form the contents of the panel after the jump. Get ready because there were some big announcements!
I think if you combined the number of all the podcasts we’ve done so far, we hit a hundred episodes with this one. So, we’re doing some creative renumbering and calling this the 100th episode of the Powetcast.
Zac is joined by Crazy, The Captain, and the ever present aDam for talk about beating kids at Pokemon, beating Nazis with a shield, beating ourselves over San Diego news, and finally giving Voldemort a great big hug.
The title pretty much says it all. This non-subscription item is the MOTU Classics vehicle for 2011. While we all thought it would be the Battle Ram after its appearance last year in the Four Horseman’s case, it appears Mattel opted for something slightly smaller to start off the vehicles. The Wind Raider was a pretty ubiquitous vehicle in the original series so I wouldn’t be surprised if some collectors tried picking up more than one when it goes on sale in October.
Just a reminder to all you collectors that at noon EST, MattyCollector will have several new items up for sale. This includes MOTU Classics Clawful, JLU S.T.R.I.P.E., and some DCUC Super Powers stands. Today also marks the beginning of the All-Star sale where you can pick up what appears to be overstock of some very popular items including each of the four Ghostbusters figures, Walter Peck, MOTUC He-Man, Skeletor, Battlecat, She-Ra, Trapjaw, Panthor and much more!
Just a reminder folks! Today is MattyCollector Day for the month of April 2011. This week sees the offerings of Sy-Klone, Panthor, Re-issue Moss Man (unflocked ears), and the long awaited Weapons Rack. It should be a tough day for all since the Weapons Rack was not included in the Club Eternia subscription service so brace for MattyCollector impact and lots of White Screen wait times.
Shadow Beast bio can be found after the jump! Be sure to let us know your thoughts on Shadow Beasts and their peculiar affection toward Teela in the comments.
Wondercon 2011, taking place this weekend, April 1st through 3rd, is one stop on MattyCollector’s Collector Appreciation Tour. To honor the event Mattel had several new items on display we have never seen. First up, a poortly mocked up version of what will become the back of Catra’s packaging.
The big news, though, was Hurricane Hordak and Leech. Leech will be a new monthly Club Eternia release, while Hordak will be the major variant for the 3rd quarter.
Images of Leech and Hurrican Hordak are from He-Man.Org member, SCB. The other images are from Matty’s very own Facebook page.
I don’t think anyone planned on a long show. In fact, the show almost didn’t go on, with Sean and Sindra both out. But we got a last minute ringer in the form of Extra Zero, and still managed to talk about toys for an hour straight.
This may be the last Powetcast in the form you know it. We return with our 50th episode marking the 5th anniversary of Powet.tv next, and then a live recording from PAX. The show that comes back in March may be very different. Subscribe now and don’t miss it!
