Okay, so this isn’t a video game, or even video game related (although War Machine is a playable character in Marvel vs Capcom 1 and 2, and makes appearances in other games that feature Iron Man), but it is a slept-on classic. In 2001, Marvel introduced Max comics, a sub-line of books aimed at mature audiences (a’la DC’s Vertigo). Although many of the books were hit or miss, the line was used to introduce some pretty creative concepts at the time. Alias introduced the character of Jessica Jones to the Marvel Universe, while Garth Ennis’s hideously gory take on The Punisher was a hit with readers. Writer Chuck Austen contributed a brand new take on War Machine, Iron Man’s buddy. Although he may have been one of comicdom’s most hated writers, Austen scored a hit with this series. Toy Fair kicked off over the weekend a day early with a media event put on by Hasbro. This gave the company a chance to present their plans for the next year or so for all of their product lines. There was so much information in the presentation that we have broken it down into smaller chunks. Here is an update on the state of the Marvel Legends line and its glorious return to retail.

I missed The Avengers teaser that ran during the Superb Owl. Turns out that I didn’t need to see it, since the Avengers Facebook page posted an extended version.
I can’t tell you what is extra about this one, but I can tell you that we see The Hulk and we have confirmation of the army that it will take to bring the team together.
The Avenegers, directed by Joss Whedon, will release on May 4. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston, and Stellan Skarsgård.
The Wrap reports that the Avengers is now slated to be released in 3D. The movie was previously planned for a 2D release, and was filmed with 2D cameras, meaning once again we will be treated to another sub par post production 3D movie, where all 3D is fabricated as special effects, rather than by actually using a special 3D camera to shoot the film as was done with Tron Legacy, Avatar or Jackass 3D.
Fans of the Avengers are not strangers to Fake 3D. The two latest feature length commercials for the Avengers, Captain America and Thor, were both released in Fake 3D which was done entirely in post production. If you have the choice, use your dollar to choose to watch a Fake 3D movie in 2D whenever possible. If you have no choice, you can always fabricate a device that will simulate the 2D effect. Yes, this is online right now, but it may be removed entirely in the near future. This is an extra on the Thor DVD. Its got Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, and fills in some story between Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Avengers. And Iron Man. Apparently we can expect more shorts like this leading up to Avengers.
Another short titled “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” in also expected soon.

Warning: This footage contains major spoilers for Captain America. Joss Whedon’s big screen team up The Avengers rivals the sequel to The Dark Knight for geek buzz. And since The Dark Knight Rises has a teaser, it fits that we get one for The Avengers.
Fans who saw Captain America were treated to a preview of things to come, as is now Marvel tradition. However as this teaser build off the events of Thor and very greatly off the events of Captain America, I’m embedding the footage after the cut to avoid spoiling anyone. Click at your own risk. The clip actually contains more footage from Captain America than The Avengers which is why I’m being so extra careful.
I will note first that this is NOT the full teaser following Captain America, just a portion of it. So its a teaser for a teaser. That works. If you have any interest in seeing The Avengers, it would be worth it to see Captain America, as its probably the best Marvel Studios movie since the original Iron Man started this march toward the team up 3 years ago.
