First look at Evil Alex from The Wizards Return

The Wizards Return poster - Selena Gomez as Evil Alex - Wizards of Waverly Place TV special

Entertainment weekly gives us a first look at the poster for The Wizards Return, the new Wizards of Waverly Place TV special. E! Online also has an image of Selena Gomez decked out in leather as Alex Russo.

Selena Gomez as Alex Russo in the Wizards Return - Wizards of Waverly Place TV special

The premise of the special has Alex vs. Alex as good and evil Alex square off against each other. Evil Alex with a white streak in her hair is consistent with how Alex looked when she turned evil in the “Saving WizTech” two parter from season two. In the background of the poster is the leaning tower of Pisa, which is where the battle in the film is meant to take place.

$20 Game of the Week: Just Cause 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

Just_Cause_2

The original Just Cause was a game that came out during the early days of the Xbox 360 lifespan. Although it was far from perfect, it did have a lot of potential as a Grand Theft Auto meets Mission Impossible style free roaming espionage title. This game’s sequel improves on it in every way, enabling players to pull off batshit insane stunts straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster.

TakaraTomy releases papercraft couch for your Transformers Arms Microns

arms_micron_sofa

We, here, at Powet.TV bring you only the finest news in entertainment. Thats why we needed to share this official announcement.

TakaraTomy, the Japanese company that works with Hasbro to bring us Transformers, has posted a pdf file on their site (available here). This pdf is nothing short of a papercraft couch for your Arms Micron figures. These are the mini-con figures that have been released with the Transformers Prime figures in Japan. They are little robots or animals that turn into weapons for the larger figures to use.

Apparently, the couch comes in two flavors; Autobot and Decepticon.

Choose wisely, Poweteers. Choose wisely.

Let us know in the comments what other pieces of household furniture you’d like to see officially released from Takara!
Count me in for a kitchen sink. Megatron just finished dinner and Starscream has some dishes to clean.

Lost Classics: Project Horned Owl (PS1)

pho

Project Horned Owl is a classic Playstation light gun shooter, and one of the few available for the system. Taking place in a futuristic world, you (and a friend if playing co-op) take control of two policemen out to stop a terror plot. You’ll blast your way through criminals, cyborgs, and mechs throughout the game’s 5 stages. If the mech designs look familiar, that’s because manga artist Masamune Shirow, the man behind Appleseed and Ghost in the Shell did character designs for this game. The game has bright anime-styled graphics and fully voiced cutscenes. Despite it’s roughness, fans of old school rail shooters like Lethal Enforcers and Operation Wolf will love this game. Hopefully it will show up on Playstation Network if it isn’t there already. It’s just too bad there are no PS3 light gun accessories to play it with.

“Live Action Toy Story” remade with real toys and people

Behind the scenes - Live Action Toy Story

Here’s an amazing undertaking. It’s a shot for shot remake of the “Toy Story” movie entirely made using puppeteering and stop motion with real toys and real human actors. The entire film was done and is available for viewing on YouTube.

Check out the Facebook page for this project for more on this incredible accomplishment.

Movie Posters: The Last Stand

I started this column because I really enjoy the diversity and potential for artistic creativity in movie posters (even if most nowadays are a photoshop disaster), but I have received a few requests to start including a movie trailer for each of these posts. Starting today, I will be including it after the jump for anyone who wants more info on the movie.

White House responds to petition for Death Star

obama-death-star

Not long ago a petition was created on the ‘We The People’ site setup by the White House to garner suggestions for legislation and direction in the governing over the nation. Essentially this site was created to help give constituents a further influence in their own government. Any petition garnering greater than 25,000 signatures will guarantee an official White House response. The petition in question was to secure funding for and being construction of a Death Star.

By focusing our defense resources into a space-superiority platform and weapon system such as a Death Star, the government can spur job creation in the fields of construction, engineering, space exploration, and more, and strengthen our national defense

Thanks to the viral nature of a request like this, it took very little time for the petition to receive sufficient signatures for an official White House reponse. That response has been posted with plenty of Star Wars references to make it even better.

Continue on, dear reader, for the official White House response, Darth Vader response and DeathStarPR response.
