Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Raph The Space Cadet

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are defined by 4 key characteristics, as their name implies. They’re teenagers, meaning they are aged between 13 and 19 earth years old. They’re mutants, meaning their origin is that they have mutated DNA, mostly likely to add DNA from one organism into another. They’re ninja, meaning they were trained in Japanese martial arts. Finally they’re turtles, meaning they’re either turtles mutated to be more like people, or people mutated to be more like turtles.

Michael Bay and Shia Labeouf

Enter Michael Bay, and the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies to be released in December 2013. In a statement made at a Nickelodeon Upfront a few days ago, he was speaking about the movie, as the producer of the film, and mentioned that they would be … aliens.

Powet Top 5 – Worst Lines in Video Games

There have been some famous utterances in the history of media. Famous lines such as “Yippie-Ki-Yay, Motherf**ker” and “Hasta La Vista, Baby” have been immortalized in our brains since first hearing them, and find themselves worthy of repeating upon anointed occasions. Video games are no exception, what with many games being dialogue-heavy, and thus producing a myriad of memorable lines.

However, not all dialogue is the stuff of writing gold. Indeed, for every fantastic line, there tends to be at least one line that’s so cheesy or utterly out-of-place that it defies logic to even include it in the game and makes us ponder how the game’s writers ever thought they were geniuses upon adding it. Alot of these truly awful lines are so bad, that they actually come full circle, and become immortalized even more than if they were an awesome line.

Thus, we have my Top 5 Worst Lines in Video Games, in no particular order since they’re all equally and awesomely bad.

Free Game of the Week: Foldit (PC)

These past few weeks have seen ‘gamers’ exhibit some of the worst and most embarrassing behavior seen in the fandom. Weather it’s sexual harassment of female fighting game players, angry fanboys spamming metacritic over Mass Effect 3’s dlc, or those same fanboys making the charity Child’s Play an unwitting endorser of their campaign to have Mass Effect 3’s ending changed (and spoiling it for everyone else who didn’t play through the whole game in a week in the process of doing so), it seems that the behavior of certain subsets of the gaming community are hellbent on reaffirming the stereotype of gamers being losers. With that said, I thought I might use this week’s $20 Free Game of the week to showcase gamers doing good. In fact, how about showing gamers assisting with the cure of diseases?

Transformers Prime The Game coming in Fall 2012

Transformers Prime The Game - Optimus Prime

Great news! A Transformers Prime video game will be released this Fall. Not so great news… it’s only on the Wii, the DS and the 3DS. The Wii and 3DS versions are being developed by Now Production and the DS version is being developed by Altron Corporation … in 2004. Why isn’t this being released on any of the “good” game systems? I guess that’s what Fall of Cybertron is for.

The game will feature all the usual suspects. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Arcee, Ratchet and Bulkhead are all playable characters. The humans Jack, Miko and Raf will also appear. Decepticons Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave are seen on the site. No doubt wave after wave of drones will also be encountered. No real indication of what the game will actually be like as of yet, aside from it being a “brawler”.

Transformers Prime The Game - Jack, Miko and Raf

A teaser trailer can be found on the official web site. This trailer was also included in the Transformers Prime season 1 DVD and Blu-Ray sets.

Keep reading for the trailer, the full press release and more.

Diablo 3 Release Date is May 15th

As can be seen on Blizzard’s Diablo website, the long awaited third installment of Blizzard’s gothic demon-hunting MMO finally was announced to have a release date two months from today. Pre-orders for the game can already be purchased, with the curious tag line of “be ready to play when the servers go live”. Whether this means anything other than being the first geek to delve into the ruins of Tristram and beyond is unknown, but at least after years of teasing and baiting, the fan community has a date to set on their calendars and a timeframe before productivity takes a massive dive.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Development Hell

There’s something to be said for a game missing its release to make it more awesome, but after a while there’s the law of diminishing returns. Then there’s also the trap of trying to make everything SO MUCH MORE awesome than anything else out there, you keep changing things — even things that have or should be long since settled — that you enter the inferno known as “development hell” where ideas both good and bad go to eternally torment fans and developers alike. Sean and Vinnk discuss Duke Nukem, the fate of Silicon Knights and their dedication to Too Human that took them under, and how Rare going to Microsoft Studios changed the company forever.

The Simpsons Arcade Game – Keep Playing LIVE!

Don’t have a cow, man.

The Simpsons Arcade game finally invades Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network and we took advantage of the four player simultaneous play. Instead of the normal review of the game you’re used to seeing on Keep Playing, this is an entire play through. Also, you’ll hear running commentary from our (sometimes) podcast lineup of Adam, Ernie, and Zero along side myself. We’re going to dish on Simpsons trivia, point out some relevant gameplay facts, and make crass jokes.

Enjoy! This episode has a 40 minute run time, so I’ll save you the trouble and let you know the inevitable Terminator reference is at 7:58.
