Kate Beckinsale was almost the prostitute with three boobs in Total Recall

Kate Beckinsale with three breasts

Total Recall starring Kate Beckinsale was released today in theatres. I caught it this afternoon and thought it was great. A Q&A over at Next Movie has Kate revealing that when it originally looked like she couldn’t play the lead character of Lori in the film due to a scheduling conflict that she would have done a one day cameo as the fan favourite prostitute with three breasts!

That role eventually went to Kaitlyn Leeb who we’ve spoken about on this site a number of times. I would just like to confirm that despite a PG-13 rating we do actually see her three bare breasts in the film, though Kaitlyn herself has mentioned that all three are in fact prosthetic. She makes me wish I had three prosthetic hands!

Bonus three boob trivia: Colin Farrel’s character Douglas Quaid mentions in the film that his birthday is August 29th. This is the actual birthday of Lycia Naff, the actress who played Mary, the prostitute with three breasts in the original film! Coincidence? Probably. There are only 365 days in the year and 50 credited actors in the old film. It’s also Judgment Day…

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Video Game Soul Food

New games come out every year, and we tend to play them now and again. But there are also those games that you come back to year after year, when something new and fancy just won’t cut it, and you just need a little bit of that video game soul food.

Sean and Vinnk bring up their favorite games which have that exciting spark even years after first playing them. Sometimes those games aren’t even all that good, just supremely… comforting. Which games are your “soul food”?

$20 Game of the Week: Final Fantasy IV – The Complete Collection (PSP)

Did we really need another re-release of Final Fantasy IV? That’s debatable, but when the package is this good, why not? Final Fantasy IV The Complete Collection is (for now at least) the definitive re-release of the Super Nintendo classic. Not only does it contain a graphically updated version of the base game (with the ability to switch between the original and remixed soundtracks), it also contains all the episodes of Final Fantasy – The After Years, the downloadable sequel to FF IV, and an intermission chapter. So if you’re one of the 15 people who never played the game before in your life, or if you weren’t sold on the original WiiWare release of The After Years, this is your chance to grab the most complete version of the 16 bit classic. At least it will be until next time Square-Enix decides to re-release it.

The Powet Top 5 – Level 1 Game Themes

Ok, I’m going to start off by immediately saying that this list does NOT, in fact, represent my top favorite game themes. Neither does it mean to undermine any of the multitudes of iconic first-level game tunes that didn’t make this list. This list is simply made up of those jingles upon first entering a game’s plane of existence that meant the most to me and why. (and yes, most are from older games)

I see you there with the pitchfork and torch. Don’t try to hide it.

So here are my top 5 most iconic 1st Level tunes from video games.

Maximum Letdown: Brigade E5 – New Jagged Union (PC)

Once upon a time, there was a video game called Jagged Alliance. You hired a team of mercenaries to liberate an island from a ruthless dictator and assist a scientist and his daughter in the research of a rare plant sap with medical properties. Each of your mercs could develop their abilities RPG-style, and combat was done in a turn-based style. It was basically Tactics Ogre with guns and on steroids. It was awesome. It spawned a sequel which had 2 expansions, which were even more awesome. The series then went off the grid until a JA1 was re-released on the Nintendo DS in 2009 while JA2 was remade this past year. Jury is still out on both of those. However, in the years between JA2 and the remake, several games popped up that were ‘inspired’ by Jagged Alliance. Most of them sucked. Brigade E5 is one of the worst offenders. In case you don’t believe that it’s a rip off of JA, just take one look at its cover. Still don’t believe me? Here’s its European cover.

But which designer? The Interior Designer? The Toilet designer? It sure as hell wasn't the Lead Designer.
