First a caveat. This figure is really Overlord. Hasbro or the club do not have the rights to call him that, though, so they have given him the name Gigatron instead. He is using the Voyager Bludgeon mold from the NEST Revenge of the Fallen line. It appears that it will look pretty good in tank mode, but it looks really strange for such a powerhouse of a character to be using a samurai styled robot mode. I think the Straxus/Skullgrin mold may have been better suited even the scale would have been too small. The new head looks pretty good to me.

 

Its also relevant to note that this is the first movie line figure to be used as a Botcon exclusive. What do you fans think? Let us know in the comments!

Before Dragon Age, before Elder Scrolls, before Final Fantasy, before Zelda even, Dungeons and Dragons laid out the blueprint for fantasy RPG action. Everything from customizable characters, complex moral alignments, to skill development came from the pen and paper classic. Naturally, there have been many computer adaptations of the popular series, from Cloudy Moutain back on the Intellivision to Capcom’s arcade beat-em-ups. Neverwinter Nights 2, developed by Bioware and Obsidian, is one of the better games in the franchise, thanks to its length, depth, and user content generation tools.

Here’s a trailer for Ridley Scott’s upcoming movie “Prometheus”. This movie was at one time meant to be a prequel to Alien, but has since been retooled. There are no Space Jockeys here, but the Aliens do have quite a resemblance to the face huggers we know and love.

Wherever it does or doesn’t fit into the established Alien cannon, this movie looks promising. Look for it to hit theatres this summer. If you were wondering why the way those letters appeared looked so familiar, keep reading for a trailer from a certain 1979 movie that uses the same effect…

The Christmas season, in the video game industry, is more about big sales of blockbuster titles, console launches, and a bit of rubbing-it-in-the-face for people who perennially spell Nintendo’s doom. IDW announced this week that they will be launching two new Transformers series, Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye and Transformers: Robots in Disguise, which are a direct continuation of IDW’s Chaos event and spring out of the Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime special they released on Wednesday. The new series both launch in January 2012.
