This past weekend played host to the very first Power Con, a convention dedicated He-man and the Masters of the Universe. It was actually a double convention. Thunder Con, the second part of this double-billing, is a convention dedicated to Thundercats. There wasn’t much in the way of Thundercats presence there, but Mattel certainly showed up to represent MOTU and even held a panel. It looks like one of the Transformers designers from TakaraTomy dropped a bombshell on twitter. While showing some images of the new MP10 Optimus Prime figure, Shogo Hasui also posted a picture of a rough Masterpiece Ultra Magnus. The image shown is a very rough concept of slapping armor onto the latest version of the Masterpiece Optimus Prime mold. Obviously, this is very rough, but it sure looks like it has potential.

Marvel Minimates Herlads of Galactus box set

A few months back, Toys “R” Us hosted a poll to choose who would be in their exclusive four-pack of Marvel Minimates spotlighting Galactus and his Heralds. And we are now pleased to reveal the lineup! Nova, Morg, Terrax and Galactus himself will be in the 4-pack, and each will be tricked out to the max. Nova will have a flaming flight base that connects to her fiery hair; Morg will have an axe and a flight base; Terrax will have his axe, a rock to ride on and a clear support stand; and Galactus will come with a teeny-tiny Silver Surfer accessory that hovers above his shoulder. Diamond Select is currently looking for a way to offer the two remaining characters, Airwalker and Firelord, in the regular Minimates line, but the Heralds of Galactus Box Set will be available at Toys “R” Us this winter! All of the Minimates in the set are 2 inches tall, and have 14 points of articulation.

The Transformers Collectors’ Club revealed the first club exclusive figure for 2012; Runabout. Runabout is the partner of Runamuck, the club’s 2012 free membership exclusive. If you sign up to be a member by March 16th, 2012, you automatically get Runamuch for free as part of your membership. You also have the option to buy two other figures as a member of the club. Today’s announcement is the first of those two figures. Runabout will be put up as a preorder sometime in the Spring along with another as yet to be revealed figure.

Action Figure Xpress has posted a new photo on their Facebook page of the forthcoming Deadpool Corps Box set of minimates exclusive to New York Comic Con and AFX’s own online store. Looks like we’ll be getting the whole team except for Dogpool.

Action Figure Xpress has updated their facebook page revealing that they will have an exclusive set of minimates based on the Deadpool Corps for New York Comic Con 2011. From the write-up:

Wade Wilson, the merc with a mouth, is good at three things: violence, not dying and being a bit funny in the head. So when he was found to be the only one immune to the consciousness-destroying Awareness, he had to team up with his alternate-reality counterparts to form… the Deadpool Corps!
