Powetcast 135: Too Long; Didn’t Reddit

Rehearsal and preparedness are important, which is exactly why the first chunk of this show has Zac and Adam riffing on reddit, Reality TV, and iPhone 5 before Captain Genius finally reigns them in.

We’ll talk about how “Airplane!” is supposedly the funniest movie ever made, the absolute craziness that is Cloud Atlas, and the potential for sequels to Thor and Star Trek in 2013. Zac also reviews the geek potential for his coworkers.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Nintendo Power Down

Nintendo Power is going away, although the Nintendo Power that we knew and loved went away years ago. How can a monthly, paper publication hope to compete in the realm of up-to-the-minute online blogs, weekly podcasts, and videos with talking consoles?

Vinnk and Sean talk about the art of magazine creating, how the medium is dying (especially among video game publications), but mostly just reminisce about all of their good times with Nintendo Power. RIP, Nester!

Powetcast 134: Jay Oh

OK, yes, Fall Of Cybertron talk did finally happen in this episode. But thats only a fraction of our insulting, offensive, and divisive conversation! We’ll talk celebrity sex tapes, Chuck Norris and Hank Williams Jr talking trash, and pay tribute to Michael Clarke Duncan.

I didn’t cut out the strip club story this week.

Finally, there is a Marvel Universe MMO and we talked about that for like 5 minutes.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: This Famicom Life

This week we have something very different. SeanOrange did not have the time to record a podcast with Vinnk this week, and asled Vinnk to see what we could come up with on short notice.

We hope you like the show and we will be back soon with our normal hosts and format.

Powetcast 133: The Adam Expo

Adam went to Fan Expo in Toronto, and saw enough stuff that we spent most of the podcast grilling him on stuff he doesn’t quite understand. Hear him try to recall the premiere episodes of ‘Revolution’ and ‘Arrow’ as well as a round of Halo 4’s Infinity Slayer. Adam will also recount funny stories from John Barrowman and John Rhys Davies.

Rounding out the show, some discussion of the fate of the Justice League movie and whether Wonder Woman and Superman’s comic book kiss is even worth the publicity.

At the very last minute I remembered that we didn’t talk about Fall Of Cybertron. That will totally happen next week I promise.

Powetcast 132: Legitimate Brain Riot

Serious business you guys. In this episode we mourne the loss of Tony Scott, discuss the series finale of The Office, and the end of Nintendo Power.

Captain Genius will also review The Expendables 2, Adam announces Sailor Moon news, and Zac admits he doesn’t support the troops.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Neo Geo X

It costs more than a 3DS XL and just as much as a Wii, contains (at least a few) games available more cheaply on either the eShop or Wii Virtual Console, and comes with a dock that looks like the AES, but doesn’t actually play Neo Geo carts. And yet we still want one. Or two.

Sean and Vinnk wonder what the heck is wrong with them that they’d blow their hard-earned cash on such a frivolous item. Is it because it’s sexy and iPhone-like? Is it because of nostalgia? Is it because they’re stodgy old-timers who are fed up with a constant parade of uninspiring new games? …nah, but it’s fun to wonder!

Powetcast 131: Celebrities Impersonated

Zac, Adam, and Cap tear into a man who can’t draw feet, another Kingdom Hearts game, a too enthusiastic guy who hunts for toys, and the celebrity cartoons of the 80s and 90s.

This is all about legacy. Rob Liefeld’s legacy. Disney legacy. Hulk Hogan’s legacy.

There is homework in this episode. When you hear the assignment, please leave a comment. I’m not going to type what it is right here because that would be cheating (somehow). Also I honestly forogt what I said and its been now 2 days since we recorded the episode when I’m writing this post. So I’ll be interested to read the responses having forgotten the question. I hope I didn’t make this up in my head right now.
