E3 Konami – New Silent Hill, Never Dead, and…Castlevania?

e3.jpgSo if you’ve been paying any kind of attention to our E3 topic in the forums, you know there’s a lot of shyte flying around at this year’s E3. Today was Konami’s press conference, of which I was particularly interested in due to the BLOW OUT that was last year’s huge Konami reveal. (Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, if you were taking up residence under a rock)

Marvel VS Capcom 3: Dante & Deadpool

deadpooldanteOf course we’re still really excited for the next installment in the Capcom Vs series. The newest characters, Dante from Devil May Cry and Deadpool from Marvel, are no great surprise as they were hinted at from the beginning. This new teaser picks up where the last left off, and hints at even more characters to be revealed soon.

Capcom promised a roster of at least 30 characters, so we might be looking at a lot of trailers over the next few months, if they only do 2 at a time…

Lost Classics: Mortal Kombat – Deadly Alliance (Xbox, PS2, Gamecube)

MKDAcoverBy 2002, the Mortal Kombat series had become a running gag of the fighting game world. The last gamers had seen of the series was an awful port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and the horrific action game Mortal Kombat Special Forces. Now granted, the fighting game scene was in a slump, but even then there were still quality titles such as Capcom vs SNK 2, King of Fighters, and Dead of Alive 3. Midway knew that they if Mortal Kombat was once again going to be relevant, they would have to go back to the drawing board, and they did just that with Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty TV Commercial

Were you watching the NBA finals last night? Did you see the Celtics take it to the Lakers? You might have also seen the first TV commercial for Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Check it out! Kerrigan is back!

$20 Game of the Week: Knights in the Nightmare (DS)

kitnThis turn-based strategy RPG is easily one of the most underrated Nintendo DS games of last year. In fact, I’d almost go as far to say that it was one of last year’s big sleepers. It introduces a unique style of play that sets it apart from other games on the DS, as well as other games in its genre. I would be hesitant to even call it a strategy RPG, as it takes a lot of pages from other genres, such as real time strategy, shooter, and even some tower defense games for good measure. It’s Episode 4 in developer Sting’s Department Heaven series, which also includes the Game Boy Advance titles Yggadra Union and Rivera, although there isn’t much of a relation between them, and one does not have to have played the other two to enjoy KITN.

Mortal Kombat Returns, Has Nothing To Do With Viral Clip

Warner Bros has released a new trailer for the game they’re simply calling “Mortal Kombat” and its a mixed bag. Yep, its super violent, and it promised to be a return to the 2D roots of the franchise after dancing in 3D for the last decade or so.

But I’m kinda disappointed that the “Rebirth” video that took the internet by storm less than 48 hours ago has nothing to do with the actual next game. A bold new direction for the franchise would’ve been cool. Instead the game here looks kinda hokey with the saw blade hat, the ice sword, and Shao Khan’s unaltered appearance. Still looks very 90s, even running in high def.

Rock Band 3 First Gameplay Footage

rockband3keysUSA Today of all places is getting us our first real look of Rock Band 3’s Keytar. Looks like putting it in your lap will be the easiest way to play, and the color coded portions of the keyboard will let the novice easily pound away like they’re Ben Folds without actually being super precise. Meanwhile its clear that the hardest level of the game has been beefed up to allow more challenge to those guys who’ve been playing Rock Band 15 hours a week for the past 3 years.

Hit the jump for a peek at a few of the songs to be included in the game. Spoiler Alert: “Rainbow In The Dark” made the cut! This one’s for you, Dio.

Rock Band 3 Billboard in LA

rockband3En route to see Ashes Divide at the Viper Room, noble reader and fan RJK snapped this photo of a billboard. Four familiar icons, one unfamiliar, and one giant number “3”

The billboard is just a mile away from LAX, it appears Harmonix is gearing up to make the big announcement of the next Rock Band. The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) starts next week in Los Angeles. We already have heard early reports that we’ll see keyboards added to the mix, and this ad pretty much removes all doubt.
