SDCC 2011: New Info from the Walking Dead Game

If you’re s survival horror and zombie buff like I am, chances are you know about Image Comics’ “The Walking Dead” series. You might even be on of the newcomers that hopped on-board the undead train when TWD became a tv series on AMC. However, did you know if was getting a video game too?

This may be a good or bad thing, given the heavy use of the zombie genre these days, but The Walking Dead has alot of brand-name weight behind it, and Telltale Games (known for doing the recent Back to the Future game) is bringing it to the interactive stage. Though it still has no clear release date for the game other that Q4 2011, here is some info on it’s content courtesy of Rely on Horror.

You’ll be faced with choices to make regarding who to save and who to leave behind, ideally you would expect this to lead to some harsh consequences especially if the person you opted to leave behind ends up living and confronting you once again. This is exactly going to be the case in the game and this will prove to be quite an incentive for multiplay play-throughs, seeing as how every one will have you with different survivors.

SDCC 2011: Risk gets the MGS Treatment

Konami has certainly been bossing-up their Metal Gear Solid regiment at this year’s Comic-Con, what with game producer Hideo Kojima making an appearance, and this little tidbit certainly shows that with a release of the board game “Risk” all dressed up in a MSG attire.

From Kojima’s Twitter feed –

“MGS” version of the board game “RISK” from Hasbro has been released. There were some products displayed at their booth, and logo bandana was provided.

SDCC 2011: Halo Anniversary “Silent Cartographer” Demo Video

The original Halo is a memorable game for a variety of reasons, but perhaps the best example of the game and the best introduction one could be given to the universe is the level “The Silent Cartographer.”

Master Chief John 117 and a crew of marines are dropped on to a beach with a wide variety of Covenant enemies at the ready. This level also features the music commonly thought of as the “Halo Theme”

The demo shows a talked about feature: Classic mode. Tapping the “back” button on your Xbox controller will swap the new graphics for the original 2001 graphics. Honestly, I think the game looks pretty good either way, and the classic mode really does more to show off what they could accomplish with new textures and a few layers added on to the old engine.

This demo is what was originally shown behind closed doors at E3 last month, but is being shown to everyone at San Diego ComiCon.

If you Pre-Order Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, you’ll get a bonus in game, the “Grunt Funeral Skull.” What does it do? Well, here is a video…. [Read the rest of this entry…]

SDCC 2011: Mortal Kombat Legacy Panel, DLC and final episode

ENI posted about this video. It features the final episode of the Mortal Kombat Legacy web series. It is not wholly clear if the series will continue past this point. The video begins with series Director Kevin Tancharoen making a few comments on the series. After his comments it cuts to the episode in full featuring Sektor and Cyrax, followed by some applause. Unfortunately, thats all. At the end of the panel, Mortal Kombat series creator, Ed Boon announced that the new DLC for the latest game in the franchise would be Freddy Krueger. You can see Freddy’s gameplay trailer after the break. He will be available to play on August 9th.

SDCC 2011: New Batman: Arkham City trailer featuring The Penguin

SDCC 2011: Talia Al Ghul confirmed for Batman: Arkham City

EW got the scoop to reveal that Talia Al Ghul will be in the new game, Batman: Arkham City, the much anticipated sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum. I’m just going to quote the article because it sums everything up pretty well.

EW can exclusively confirm that Stana Katic, best known for playing Detective Kate Beckett on ABC’s Castle, will voice the character of Talia al Ghul in the upcoming video game Batman: Arkham City, the follow-up to 2009?s much-beloved Batman: Arkham Asylum. There’s no word yet on how Talia will figure into the game’s storyline. In the comics, Talia is the frequently conflicted daughter of Ra’s al Ghul, one of Batman’s archenemies. In spite of this, Talia is often a love interest for the Dark Knight. The two even get married at one point, with Talia giving birth to Batman’s son, Damian Wayne.

Katic’s involvement in the game will be announced later today at a Comic-Con panel for Batman: Arkham City, which hits stores Oct. 18 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

SDCC 2011: Exclusive Star Wars XBox 360 with Kinect bundle

Star Wars Droids themed XBox 360 Kinect Bundle

Check out this sweet looking XBox 360 and controller that look like the gay robots of Star Wars. Microsoft is trying to make this a big deal because it’s the first custom Kinect bundle but that’s kind of stupid since the Kinect piece itself doesn’t actually look Star Wars themed. I guess because it’s white? Kind of lame.

R2D2 themed XBox 360

The XBox 360 system is made up like R2D2

C3P0 Themed XBox 360 Controller

The controller is made up like C3P0

Check out the announcement at Major Nelson’s blog for more info.
