IGN re-launches their Dreamcast page

dreamcast.jpgIn a real head-scratching maneuver, the staff of games mega-site IGN has decided to bring back dreamcast.ign.com.
Their reasons are suspect. I can only guess that the fanboy fervor that still surrounds Sega’s final console is active enough to cause the management of IGN to allow this to happen.
Of course, I wouldn’t post about such a thing if I wasn’t a pretty big fan of the Dreamcast too…

Wii $250

wii.jpgOn May 25, Nintendo announced Wii would not exceed $250.
Today, they made it official: Wii will be $250 exactly.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance new screens

Marvel_UA_048.jpgWorthPlaying has a well of 35 new screen to the sequel to X-Men Legends 2.
Marvel Ultimate Alliace will pit 140 heroes from the Marvel Comics universe against Dr. Doom, Galactus and more. If that last sentence doesn’t make you want to at least play the game, just skip to the next article.
Multiplayer modes from X-Men Legends 2 return, and the customization levels go off the chart with the ability to re-create classic teams from Marvel’s past to make all new ones with your favorite characters.
The Official Site only has 14 characters revealed so far, but odds are you’ll be able to play as anyone you want. 140 is a lot of characters. You can also take a peek at the impressive trailer.

StarCraft:Broodwar total 3D conversion

starcraftScreenShot2.jpgAn ambitious mod of WarCraft III is being undertaken by Snowflake Entertainment to bring Starcraft a little more up to date.
Blizzplanet has a Q&A with the “Project Revolution” team.
The project is about 50% complete and they promise all the speed and fun of Blizzard’s neglected franchise. They’ve even got a mac programmer on staff to ensure it will work on OSX. (yes!) All you’ll need is to own the StarCraft and Broodwar discs, as this prevents violations of any intellectual property laws.
This should be some good news to fans since (though still unofficial) StarCraft: Ghost has been cancelled.

Transfer Your Nintendo WiFi Profile to a New DS

transferI had heard a rumor of this capability, but was having such a hard time finding out the exact procedure that I was starting to think it was a myth. With the American launch of the DS Lite creeping up, I tracked the method down. It’s easy, but slightly hidden, just like everything else to do with WiFi settings on a DS.

Step 1: With your old DS, boot up any WiFi-enabled game and go into “Nintendo WiFi Connection Setup.”

Step 2: From the orange “Options” box on the right, select “Transfer Nintendo WFC Configuration.”

Step 3: Take your empty new DS, and select “DS Download Play” from the main system menu.

That’s it. Your new DS will now work with all your old lists and IDs for all of your games. Your old DS will be given a brand-new WiFi ID the next time it’s taken online.

This Week In Halo

halo_best_of_classics.jpgFirst up, Halo: Combat Evolved is being re-issued again. Pictured is the Euro “Best Of Classics” that makes our “Best Of Platnium Hits” packaging look conservative by comparison. Ugly.

Frank O’Connor has done us the favor of printing the best protest emails from cheaters who were banned in The Bungie Waaahmbulance. And for those who don’t know how cheating works, GamesFirst has a rundown of Halo 2 Cheating.

Bungie updates several times this week. New in store is the Halo 3 Shirt, and theres also some words from Burnie from Red VS Blue.

Finally, the weekly update announced the end of Clan match, some Halo 2 Vista plans, and next to no info on Halo 3. But we do get a new Mister Chief sketch.

Sony stomps the “no used games” rumour.

ps3.jpgPut the pitchforks down, fanboys.
Sony refuted claims they’ll lock out pre-owned games back in November 2005. Which really should’ve been the end of it.
Then, Games Radar hopped along a couple days ago a re-reported this old rumor, giving all sorts of gullible fans (and bloggers) something to cry about.
Now, as expected, Sony is making a fresh statement today dispelling this horrendously stupid claim.
I feel like I’m the only person saying this is a totally untrue rumour [1,2] over the past few days, and it feels good to be right. Now, stop jumping to conclusions.
