PopCap games has finally brought their very popular backyard defense game Plants Vs Zombies to Android devices! Its available via the Amazon Appstore exclusively, so you won’t find it on Android Market. Its well worth downloading the Amazon Appstore right now because PvZ is free today only. Yes, May 31, 2011. If it is any other day, you’ll pay $2.99. Be aware the size of the game means you have to download over wifi, but you can still buy the game now and download later if you’re mobile. You can even queue it from the website if you don’t have your phone or tab handy right now.
Isaiah Mustafa, the man who took the nation by storm in a series of very clever Old Spice commercials, has been very vocal about wanting Marvel comics to consider him as Luke Cage in a future movie.
Now taking matters into his own hands, Mustafa appears to have financed the production of a trailer for this non-existant film. Marvel has over the last several years put Luke Cage as a lower priority as it established its Avengers series, but has stated that smaller films about Dr Strange and other less mainstream characters are possible next. Luke Cage would fit in that perfectly, and would be an excellent addition to a future Avengers movie for a cameo.
Theres no doubt that if internet buzz takes over, Marvel will at least consider Mustafa for the role. So does this trailer convince you as it should convince Marvel?
Gears 3’s multiplayer beta show the immense promise of the third act of the Xbox shooter series.
But the campaign is going to deliver hard. Marcus’ father is alive and the 3 sides are colliding in a major way. See the humans, the Lambent, and the Locusts tear everything up.
The original Gears Of War made a big splash with a trailer that featured Gary Jules’ subdued cover of “Mad World” and similarly the song “How It Ends” by Devothcka in the Gears 2 spot was more somber than exciting.
Gears Of War 3 pulls no punches. Its “War Pigs” by Black Sabbath and it kicks as much ass as the footage it scores.
From our coverage of Pax East 2011, we talk to Mike McCain of Moonshot Games about the art and gameplay of their first title, Fallen Frontier.
A little background: this entire interview happened only because I was waiting a while to play this game. It wasn’t until I was reviewing this footage today that I realize the person taking so long before me was Tim Schafer.
aDam and I played for about 15 minutes and we were both really impressed. The game played smooth and the level we went through was really huge with lots of options for taking on enemies.
Split screen seemed really odd at first, but totally natural once you played it. Most games will split top/bottom or left/right for two players, but Fallen Frontier splits at an angle, and the line will move or tilt based on which way the players are heading and what they’re doing. When you rejoin, the line disappears and you share the screen again. Really cool idea.
Moonshot still has a long way to go on this title, but its clear they have some good ideas in place already. We can only hope they deliver on our expectations!
Hey, so the game has been out for 9 Months. There are still a lot of people who have not made the trip to Reach.
Microsoft has never released a demo for a Halo title (with the exception of the RTS spin-off Halo Wars), so seeing its boldest and most recent chapter suddenly get some free play is kind of unexpected!
The demo is a nice vertical slice of 3 of Reach’s game modes: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Firefight. The campaign is a portion of “Long Night Of Solace” which you saw in the E3 demo last year. Only about half the chapter is included, but thats well over a half hour of play on the ground and in space. You’ll also be able to play multiplayer on “Powerhouse” which has a wide variety of weapons on the ground and lots of high and low combat. Finally, Firefight on “Outpost” will pit you against wave after wave of aliens until the timer runs out, or you finally run out of lives.
If you like it, go ahead and buy the game. You won’t be disappointed. I purchased on day one and still managed to put another 2 hours into the game this morning. There are two downloadable map packs for sale, but I’ve seen dozens of maps made by the community and they’ve all been offered for free and included in regular online play, so even if you don’t buy the professional maps, you’ll still have something new to look at almost every time you play.
World War 3 arrives at our doorstep with Modern Warfare 3. After the events of Modern Warfare 2, you’ll see urban combat as forces step into England, France, Germany, and the USA.
Infinity Ward says they’ve got a new engine and just as always, the visuals are some of the best in the business.
This is also the first CoD game from Infinity Ward after a mass exodus of high level staff after a dispute with Activison over wages and royalties. Those that remain are being backed up by Sledgehammer, a new studio with members of EA Redwood, who produced Dead Space.
Since the trailer focuses on the (over the top) campaign, its hard to say how this game will fair against its most dedicated multiplayer fans, but I think its safe to say that November 8 will see a lot of people lining up at their local game shops.
A note to our audience: I know this is the most mainsteam game produced for consoles outside of Madden, but if you didn’t at least play through the first Modern Warfare game, you really missed something awesome.
Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller’s follow up to the awesome Forgetting Sarah Marshall looks like a very run of the mill RomCom until Kermit The Frog shows up.
Muppet movies and TV shows of the past had no trouble breaking the fourth wall, and this looks like no exception. Segel and Stoller might just be what the Muppets need to be relevant to modern times.
What do you think of the trailer? Are The Muppets back or is the Henson legacy in trouble?
