Women in gaming have made tremendous strides, both onscreen and off, behind the scenes, or playing the games. Fans of the Female Shepard in the Mass Effect series — male and female alike — encouraged BioWare to finally put her in their advertisements and materials just so that other gamers would know she exists. It’s 2011; are women still being overlooked in gaming? Sean talks to guest panelists Sindra and Megan about what it’s like to be such a minority in gaming culture, and discuss their favorite heroines from the aforementioned Shepard, to “Lady Hawke” from Dragon Age 2, Samus in Metroid, Alex Roivas in Eternal Darkness, and more! And Sean tries to avoid saying “that’s what she said” for almost an entire hour.

I usually choose the female character, generally I’d usually rather stare at an animated�woman’s�backside�for hours on end than a man’s.

As you mention, some of the sequences in Mass Effect look a little strange, but I have long since learned to suspend my disbelieve for all sorts of things in video games, so it’s no big deal.
� It is a bit strange though�since I customized my character a lot, and the game is so long, and so good with using your customizations even in the cutscenes�that you get really used to the character you�choose / made.��She looks nothing like�any of the�defaults�and now whenever I see any promo material with the bro-shep or and another woman talking with her voice�its just�all wrong.� “Thats not Shepard!”

Yeah, I’m DEFINITELY very attached to my customs. �Same with Dragon Age.

See, surrounded by women, I was a little afraid to make comments about staring at my character’s ass (or anything else), so the best I managed was the mention of Jill’s hip sway. �I’m serious, that drove be absolutely crazy, hahaha.

Great podcast guys!� I really enjoyed hearing Megan talk about femshep and all that character entails.� She hit on a lot of points that I so totally agree with.� I hope that BW and the industry as a whole has learned something from the popularity and passion for this character.� Maybe they will at the very least start publicizing the customization of main characters.� I guess time will have to tell on that one. Again, thanks for this podcast!� It was great to hear more about femshep.

in this podcast there is one game i think you should of talk about called threads of fate on the ps1 because in the begin of the game you chose from too character and they and guy and a girl and they both have different abilities and all around�different�characters and in order to get a special ending you had to beat the game with both�character�on the same save file for more info�
