Castle Crashers is a tongue-in-cheek throwback to old school beat-em-ups like Golden Axe and Double Dragon. It was developed by The Behemoth, the people behind the similarly zany Alien Hominid. Taking control of one of four characters, you (and up to three more of your friends if playing co-op) set out on a quest to defeat thousands of barbarians, sorcerers, monsters, and other baddies in your quest to save the princesses. You can stop at shops to buy special items, and you can replay stages after you beaten them. There are well over 20 unlockable characters, including several who are available as downloadable content. You can even unlock Alien Hominid if you have a save file from that game. There is also a competitive multiplayer mode which you can play with up to 3 other players. Castle Crashers is headed to PSN later this year, so PS3 owners can see what the big deal is.
Get ready, Poweteers! Its time to crash some castles and rescue some princesses!
On Saturday, June 12, 2010, Powet.TV staffers will be logging in to Castle Crashers on XBox Live and we ask all of you to join us for some fun. We will be starting around 7PM EST and continue on until there is noone left to play. All are welcome to leave or join whenever they wish.
If you think you’re going to be around and want to play, be sure to post your gamertag in this thread.
Ok, Sonic fans, this isn’t the news you were hoping to hear, but Sega has announced that Sonic 4 Episode 1 has been delayed from its previous summer 2010 release to ‘late 2010’. The reason given was basically to give the development team more time to tweak and fine tune the game. Also announced were the additions of the iPhone and iPod Touch to the list of platform options available for this game.
Not much more was given in terms of details for this announcement. Fortunately, Sonic fans are no strangers to waiting for good games.
Stand up comedian and actress Aisha Tyler is a well known Halo fan. In fact, its been rumored for a while that she has a role in the Reach game, though thats unconfirmed.
What she definitely does have a role doing is introducing the Beta test to gamers via this 6 minutes primer video. While you’re waiting for the Reach Beta to download (its 1.2 GB), it wouldn’t be a bad idea to watch this recap of all the new games, areas, and weapons you’ll discover.
The Halo Reach Beta is available for a limited time to those who have been given a download code from Microsoft or accessed from the Halo 3 ODST Main Menu. Don’t have ODST? Why Not?!?
“There are those who said this day would never come… What are they to say now?”
Its true, this is the last 24 hours to play Halo 2 on Xbox Live before Microsoft shuts down multiplayer servers. Tonight, Bungie studios is going to be tracking all players who log on to play the game in Matchmaking and will supposedly be adding a reward to those players who also move on to play the next game in the series, Halo: Reach. If you want to participate, make sure you’ve downloaded or installed all the maps and updates (available free right now) and simply log in.
In your walk down memory lane, you may want to check out “Better Than Halo: The Making of Halo 2” from Eurogamer, which looks at the complete development with candid interviews from the developers.
Updated: The content has been restored!
It appears that last month, Activision closed down Luxoflux Studios. Luxoflux were the developers of the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Game. As of the writing of this article, it appears that the downloadable content has been removed from the XBox Live Marketplace without notice and can no longer be purchased. I cannot verify if this is also the case on the Playstation Network.
The DLC was first made available August 27, 2009. That means it was available for less than 8 months before being pulled. The content featured 11 new playable characters, 3 new maps, a new expert difficulty level and all new achievements. We posted a trailer of the DLC here.
As a fan who only recently got an XBox 360 with this as his first game, you can imagine my disappointment that I now cannot have the chance to play this new content that I am more than willing to spend money on. Hopefully Activision can find a way to put the pack back up for a limited time for those who had not gotten it yet. [Read the rest of this entry…]
