The new game from Riddick developer Starbreeze will be out very soon, and I cannot wait. It based on the comic The Darkness, and aside from the usual FPS antics I’ve grown to enjoy, it employs a mechanic where in the player gains demonic powers when stepping out of the light. Fantastic. The voices for those demons are provided by Mike Patton, best known as the singer for Faith No More.
The Darkness on Xbox 360 and PS3 will be out June 25.

Faceplates featuring the original Transformers are now available at Gamestop for the Xbox 360. I’ll show you how they look, and how they’ve got interchangable artwork!

We’ve got not one, but TWO Guitar Hero sequels heading our way.
Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80s will be out this summer and will be functionally identical to Guitar Hero II, just with an 80s theme. It will be released only to the PS2, but songs from the disc are likely to appear as downloadable content on Xbox Live for Xbox 360.
Guitar Hero III will hit PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. The new guitar designs will be based on the Gibson Les Paul (my guitar!) and the Gibson Kramer (seen at left with celebrity endorsement)
Songs revealed so far after the break [Read the rest of this entry…]

Theres not much more about these games that hasn’t been said by myself or aDam, but if you missed out on them, Lucasarts is compiling all the gameplay from both LEGO Star Wars games into one monster title called LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga. They’re throwing in some new stuff of course, and the DS game is going to be new from the ground up (which is good because the port of LSW 2 didn’t go over so hot).
PS3 and Wii owners will of course be happy to get the games for the first time on their platforms, but XBox 360 players might feel slightly cheated. LSW 2 came out on the system only last year, and added download content from the prequel trilogy for a price. Oh well!
No release date or price yet, but it should be soon, and even at $60 its reasonable cost for the mountain of solid fun for all ages game play.

A few years ago there was a major, uncalled for, Vin Diesel backlash. Summer 2004 saw a big re-release of Pitch Black on DVD, the animated sequel Dark Fury, and The Chronicles Of Riddick as a major movie event. It bombed. It was awesome and fun to watch, but it bombed. Since then Diesel hasn’t had the same success, suffering through a family comedy, but gaining acclaim in the indie film Find Me Guilty.
By extension, the absolutely SUPERB game The Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay wasn’t as successful as it could’ve been. Xbox and PC owners who played the game can attest its one of the best single player first person games of the last generation, matching incredible visuals and great acting with innovative and intense gameplay.
This week on Game Head, Sierra announced they’re bringing back Butcher Bay for an Xbox 360 and PS3 release and packing in 40% more story, redoing the already amazing graphics, and calling it “Assault on Dark Athena” Starbreeze and Tigon are back on board for development and Vin Diesel will return as Riddick. Considering how many people overlooked this game based on its connection to the movie or because it was exclusive to Xbox (and still not available on backward compatibility), now is an excellent time to get in to Riddick.

Well kids, looks like your anxious waiting and thumb-twiddling has come to an end. Microsoft has confirmed that Halo 3 will be released with a date of September 25th of this coming fall for North America. Europe will have to wait an extra day. Sorry Euros.
This announcement comes mere hours before the official beta release of the game early tomorrow morning. Three editions have also been said to be made – the regular edition for normal price, the Limited Edition for $10 more, and the uber Legendary Edition for the ungodly price of $129.99 – all of which can now be pre-ordered. So save up, all you Master Chief wannabees. Despite the fact you’ll still be waiting a decent chunk of time, this should still prove to be an interesting trip.

I’ve already spoken of the pure excitement I have over the forthcoming Half Life Orange Box, but this trailer in particular is quite entertaining. The art style is perfect for a game. While Valve has the best visuals in the industry for rendering regular people, the highly animated look of Team Fortress 2’s players is reaching Pixar levels. Yeah I’m saying it. We’re out of that glass eyed uncanny valley of Spider-Man 3 visuals and squarely into spirited animated movie territory.
