Thanks to the GI Joe club, some better photos of the SDCC 2012 GIJoe/Transformers exclusive Shockwave HISS tank have surfaces revealing many of the accessories that will be coming alongside the custom vehicle. Good luck getting your hands on one of these, collectors. It is not going to be easy.
It appears the set will include the following:
HISS tank with custom Shockwave cannon turret
Destro
Constructicon colored BAT
Suitcase of cash
2 guns for Destro
2 contructicon colored weapons for the BAT
3 Energon cubes and cart to move them
A small scale Soundwave cassette player
3 cassettes to put in Soundwave

    

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura spoke with MTV at Toy Fair 2012. The big question was whether there would be a new Transformers movie. He replied pretty directly saying a new movie would be coming out in theaters in 2014 with Michael Bay slated to direct. Nothing else is really known yet, but it will be a whole new story. To clarify uninformed reports coming out of Toy Fair – Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re imagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I’m excited about where it’s headed.

It is worth noting neither the press release nor Bay’s own statements confirm he will direct, but do confirm he is working on the production.

The Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day features both the DVD and Blu-Ray edition of the Transformers trilogy of movies today. They have been marked down significantly. The DVD edition has been marked down to 17.99 from 40.99 and the Blu-Ray edition has been marked down to 29.99 from 76.99. I believe a newer edition of the trilogy will be forthcoming with lots of extras not inlcuded in these sets, but this price is pretty hard to ignore. Here is the big reveal of the final figure in the Botcon 2012 exclusive set of figures, Metalhawk. He uses the Thunderwing mold with a new head showing the humanoid head of Metalhawk’s Pretender shell. Below you can see some concept art of what the head was meant to look like along with some art from Evan Gauntt from the Botcon facebook page.
I think the helmet could have used some more color, but not bad. This is one of the more interesting figures from the set for sure. Let us know what you think in the comments!

  

Similar, to Shattered Glass Tracks, no real surprises here. We’ve seen Shattered Glass Soundwave on numerous occasions before and he’s always portrayed with this mold. He will not come with his yellow bandana, but it will be available for purchase separately from the club. Logistically speaking regarding the toy’s production, that makes a lot of sense. Speaking from a fan’s perspective, I can guarantee that move will cause a lot of frustration. In a stranger turn of events, the Cold Slither logo appears on Soundwave’s alt mode. Cold Slither is a GI Joe reference. In the old GI Joe show, the Drednoks masqueraded as a rock band called Cold Slither.

IDW announced this week that they will be launching two new Transformers series, Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye and Transformers: Robots in Disguise, which are a direct continuation of IDW’s Chaos event and spring out of the Transformers: The Death of Optimus Prime special they released on Wednesday. The new series both launch in January 2012.
