A new trailer has surfaced for DC Entertainment’s new game INJUSTICE: Gods Among Us. This game is being done by Netherrealm, the same studio behind Mortal Kombat. This fighter features some of DC’s most well known characters including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor and many many more. This trailer gives us a little more insight into the story of the game. It has a very Crime Syndicate feel to it where all the heroes are more or less villains. The game will be coming out on April, 16th 2013.
Our semi-annual roundtable debate series continues! After determing the fate of Star Wars and Star Trek, following the selection of a fictional President, our panel of experts will now debate Marvel VS DC. The results will shock you. Mostly because they’re inconclusive. We’ll have to do it again.
Sean, Extra Zero, Adam, and Captain Genius join me on this journey into centuries of continuity and endless fanboy crying. We’ll talk comics, movies, cartoons, TV, and T-Shirts.

With Batman hitting movie theaters this week, this week’s Lost Classic takes a look at one of the gaming adaptations of another DC icon, Superman. The Death and Return of Superman is a beat em up based upon the controversial storyline of the same name. While it probably isn’t saying much, this is arguably the best game starring the Man of Steel. Developed by Blizzard Entertainment (who would later go on to make some little known game called Diablo) and published by Sunsoft, TDATOS is a solid, if generic, adaptation of the comics. Taking control of Superman, you battle your way through Metroplois until you are taken down by Doomsday. From then on, each level will have you in control of one of the four substitutes, each having their own playstyle. Eventually, SUpes will be reborn, and you’ll be back in control of him. Many of the scenes from the comic are reenacted in game form, particularly the destruction of Coast City. While there isn’t much setting it apart from other brawlers, it’s a solid title featuring Superman. How many other games featuring the Man of Steel can you say the same thing about?
Should this site just be renamed Ship TV? It has a nice ring to it.
This week Adam and Zac are joined by Jim and Zero. We head to Mars with John Carter, click some cows on Facebook, talk to animals with Max Payne, and do a walk-and-talk on the Newsroom.
Oh good! Another 68 minutes of podcasting!
In this week’s excursion, Zac tackles the moral dilema of Superman VS The Elite, Adam gets a Gravity Rush off some Red Bull, and Captain Genius offers a counter-point to Lollipop Chainsaw.
After all that we chat about Michael Bay’s TMNT movie, Hans Zimmer, Disney’s next move with the Avengers cartoons, and how one troll fooled a dozen comic blogs (us included).
It looks like some more of that Warner Bros. and DC Comics synergy is coming to fruition. The studio responsible for Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm (part of WB Games) has a new game on the way and it looks like a doozy from this trailer. Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, both comic writers are penning the story and I can only hope it plays out as well as Mortal Kombat’s story did because that was the best storytelling I’ve ever seen in a fighting game. This fighter will feature a pretty great cast of characters just from the short list already announced in Superman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn and Solomon Grundy. The game is called Injustice: Gods Among Us and it really looks like the lines between hero and villain have been greatly blurred. Marvel’s had a pretty great run on fighting games for along time now, but I’m looking forward to see how far DC’s answer to those games can push the limits.
Injustice’ is our twist on the blockbuster over-the-top superhero game in a fighting game shell. We’re trying to add some major components to shake up the fighting game genre…One of the big kind of goals that we have its to is to have fighters that feel completely different from one another.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is coming in 2013 to PS3, XBOX 360 and Wii U.
Official Press release after the jump! In addition, I also embedded the interview with Ed Boon after the jump. Check it out. [Read the rest of this entry…]
Many fans were hesitant, to say the least, when the New 52 reboot was announced (including us: listen to our podcast about it). Six months and six issues later, how is the DC Universe doing?
Here are the top five things the New 52 does right:
Around the time that the PS 3 was announced, a massively multiplayer online based on the DC comics universe was also announced. After several years in development, it has arrived. Although it received mixed reviews, players enjoyed being able to interact with heroes such as Superman and Batman while visiting locations such as Gotham city and the Fortress of Solitude. A few months ago, the game went free-to-play, and its subscriber base saw a huge jump. With most of the game’s features available for free, now is a great time to jump in if you’re a fan of superheroes. [Read the rest of this entry…]
