SoundtrackNET has many samples of the forthcoming score to Superman Returns, by John Ottman but based on the work of John Williams in the 1978 Superman.
I heard the Star Wars Episode III score before seeing the movie about this time last year, and I’m really amazed music like this holds up so well on its own.
Of course it helps that I love William’s Superman theme.
…
Ohh! And the release date has been pushed up 2 days! June 28 is the new day according to the official site! Hope my local IMAX 3D screen can accomdate this advance. I want to be there at midnight on the 27th.

Some theaters ran this new trailer with DaVinci this weekend, but this is the reel intended for audiences outside of North America.
It has a lot of footage we’ve seen, but paced much better, a little slower and building up to a new final shot that is really quite shocking and cool.
You’ve got 2 ways to get it as well: Superman Returns International Trailer (.mov download) or SR Youtube streaming(kinda low res, but loads quick)

Last night’s “Smallville” had the first Superman Returns television commerical. For those who missed it, Aint-It-Cool has multiple formats you can stream online.
The footage itself contains mostly footage from the prior teasers released to theaters and the internet some time ago. There is one new shot that comes so quick you might miss it. To avoid spoiling anyone, I’ve provided a screengrab after the jump.
Also of note is the announcement that Superman Returns will debut on June 30th in IMAX 3D. Why, there just happens to be an IMAX down the road from me…

Our friend Sparkstalker has been suspicious of the PS3 box since it was revealed a year ago, pointing out the lack of fans, and the power supply being housed in box. I’ll let his words take over:
Looking at this image again. I’ve got to wonder how “final” this really is. It still has a 120V input. Which means all power conversion would still have to happen inside the unit. Which would double the amount of heat that the PS3 will have to dissipate. And while they’ve increased the size and added vents, to me, it still doesn’t look like enough to dissipate the heat that will be generated by the system and power supply. We’ve seen the issues with the 360, and that’s with “loud fans” and a “monsterous” power brick…
It just doesn’t add up.
Also thanks to him for pointing out how many of those inputs disappeared in the last 12 months.
Incidentally, Sony pitchman Phil Harrison (who’s mere image frightens me, to be honest) is saying they’d been developing the tilt control since 1994. Nice try. We all know where you ripped the Dual Shake off of.

DDR hits the TV screen and the Mobile phone.
Nokia NGage still kicking, despite all efforts to ignore it.
Frankie at Bungie deflects fanboy reactions to the Halo 3 trailer.
Superman Returns… please don’t let it be teh suck.
Close up look at Will Wright’s Spore.
Super Mario Galaxy Boss Battle.
And surprisingly, Hideo Kojima would like to ditch Metal Gear Solid 4 production to work on Wii. I mean, it doesn’t surprise me he wants to develop for Wii, just surprises me he’d consider ditching the PS3 only real killer-app to do it.
And now the doors to the biggest video game show of the year officially closed, its time to declare a winner. Tell us what looked best, what looked worst, what confused you, what was most unexpected, etc. Register and post your thoughts to our forums.

In what might qualify as the worst idea in the long sad history of bad ideas, the not-yet-launched CW network has announced its intent to produce a Legion Of Super Heroes series for broadcast later this year. Thanks to Superman Homepage for the scoop.
While “The Batman” has steadily increased in quality from a rather dismal first batch of episodes, they still have a long way to go before coming close to the legendary Batman The Animated Series. LSH intends to jump off that new “The Batman” continuity, as you can plainly see by the character designs. Justice League Unlimited touched on the Legion in Far From Home, but as you can see Brainiac 5 is way different looking and we’ve traded SuperGirl for a rather slender Superboy. Without seeing any actual animation, hearing any voices, or knowing plot details, its hard to say if this will be good or bad. But its easier to be pessimistic, so I’m running with that. Here’s the word direct from WB animation:
One thousand years from now, a group of teenage super heroes travel back in time to recruit the greatest hero of all, Superman, and enlist him their fight against evil in the 31st Century. While their intentions were good, their time travel skills were not, and Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, Phantom Girl, Bouncing Boy and Timber Wolf end up going too far back into the past, accidentally retrieving the young Superboy instead. Together, this unlikely Legion of Super Heroes bands together to defend the rights of all free worlds and uphold the laws of the newly formed United Planets. That is, if they don’t kill each other first.
LEGION OF SUPER HEROES combines humor with high-stakes, grand-scale super heroics to create the ultimate sci-fi, super hero fantasy for kids of all ages. Each episode of this fast-paced, character-driven action comedy will pit Superboy and the Legion against otherworldly threats and adversaries who challenge the team on both super heroic and emotional levels. The series is executive produced by Sander Schwartz, and produced by Linda Steiner and James Tucker for Warner Bros. Animation.
On somewhat related news, some really exciting Superman Returns footage has been released from an odd source: Coca-Cola. They’re featuring a few seconds of Supes flying through Metropolis and the much talked about Airplane sequence in a new ad campaign. You can see the relevant parts of this commercial from a download on Aint-It-Cool or just stop fast forwarding your TiVo and watch a commercial break sometime.
