Super Smash Bros. Brawl Release Announced

Some more E3 goodness being thrown your way, it would appear that Nintendo has saved one of it’s biggest announcements for the media event. It’s been proclaimed that Super Smash Brother’s Brawl will have a release date of December 3rd of this year.

However, it seems that’s about all Nintendo has released about the game. The company is keeping a tight lip as to any other real details, so seeing much else come about from E3 may be wishful thinking. Regardless, the game’s hype looks to make the later release date well worth the wait.

Here’s a short clip of the announcement with some footage from the game.

Resident Evil 5 Trailer from E3

As I reported on earlier this week with Umbrella Chronicles, the head honchos from Capcom have seen fit to tease us all a little more with a new trailer for the long anticipated Resident Evil 5 game, which has yet to have a confirmed release date. A smaller trailer had been seen before which depicts a unidentified male protagonist roaming about a deserted 3rd-world village (ala: RE4), only to be swarmed upon by fast-moving unseen figures.

This new trailer gives a bit more insight to the environment that RE5 will take place in, and some hints as to what may be affecting people. It also gives a bit more exposure to the protagonist. (who was “spoiled” a few weeks ago to supposedly be Billy Coen from RE0)

More info will be shared as it becomes available. Here’s hoping this isn’t the last we’ve seen from E3 of the famous survival horror goodness that is Resident Evil.

Soul Calibur IV E3 Trailer

1up seems to have locked up all the Soul Calibur news. see also these images and The 1UP Show Soul Calibur IV Special, a 16 minute look at the game.

Halo 3 New E3 Trailers, Spartan Xbox Too!

Yes, Trailerz.

First up, a live action promo shot by Neil Blomkamp and WETA, the team that would’ve been making the Halo movie by now had Fox not dropped out. Orbital Drop Shock Troopers suit up, and the factories ramp up production on war hardware.

Now the gameplay trailer. The Covenant have invaded Earth, Chief and The Arbiter must work together to stop them and save Cortana from the Flood.

Microsoft E3 Press Conference

Event just started with a performance from Corpreal, the band of high school students who played the Halo theme to some success on youtube in the past year. They played in Peter Moore, who spoke briefly about the change of venue and then announced that every game they’d show in the conference tonight will be released this year.

Then Moore introduced some of the Harmonix crew to play Rock Band. After some stumbles and Peter’s off key adlib vocals while playing guitar, they wheeled out the evenings next big gun… Viva Pinata Party Animals.

Viva Pinata Party Animals will be a party game not unlike Mario Party with… Viva Pintata characters. Yeah, I’ll leave this one to aDam.

First Look at Umbrella Chronicles

The Japanese Resident Evil site had updated a little while ago with a full-length trailer to it’s upcoming “Umbrella Chronicles” game for the Wii – a House of the Dead-esque first person shooter game which is said will tie the stories of the first series of games together, as well as give some insight to what happens before Resident Evil 4.
Now a pre-E3 trailer has come out to best that. The first part features what was on the Japanese RE site, and the second part seems straight gameplay footage with some pretty extras.

This seems to be Capcom’s answer to the gnawing craving fans have whilst waiting for more definite info releases on Resident Evil 5. Although no official release date has been announced for Umbrella Chronicles, it would appear it aims for a release later this year. E3 very well could be the place that’s fully revealed.

Transformers Movie Ironhide Custom GMC Topkick Rolls Out

ironhide1500.jpg
A couple weeks ago I found a beat up second-generation Camaro on craigslist, and was sorely tempted to drop $3 grand on a car worth turning into Bumblebee. Due to the amount of work needed, I had to pass. However, another chance to own a Transformer has just come up.

ironhide2500.jpgEdmunds reports that Monroe Truck Equipment in Monroe, WI has teamed with Hasbro to customize GMC TopKick 6500 pickups to the specs seen on Ironhide in Transformers. Complete with the big-rig stacks and the 20 inch wheels paired with 40 inch tires. Oh, and the Autobot logo is molded into the back tailgate, just as in the movie. This truck may not turn into an actual Autobot, but it will transform your wallet to empty: Retail price is $75,000.

Additional reporting from The Monroe Times. Powet.TV world headquarters is mere minutes away from this shop, so we’ll do our best to be on the scene when the first Ironhide rolls off the lot.

Artwork for Ulimate Mortal Kombat Released

As announced by IGN a few days ago, the good people over at Midway Games have blessed it’s loyal fans with a bit of nostalgia to tide them over until the next-gen Mortal Kombat comes closer to realization. Come November of this year, the Nintendo DS will be getting a ported release of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. A little treat for those familiar with Mortal Kombat Deception will also come bundled in, in the form of Puzzle Kombat (aka: Tetris with blood)

Ultimate MK

As can be seen, the box art mimics that of the skulls seen on the boxes and arcade machine versions of Ultimate MK 3. The character selection is the same, though some like Ermac and Mileena must be first unlocked in order to play, and Noob Saibot is unplayable. Still, it’s a little slice of heaven for those of us who miss the good ol’ days of 2-D fighting with motion capture animation and explosions of bodies with 10 limbs, 3 ribcages, and about 40 gallons of blood. Good times.
