Newsarama has a note up saying that Jim Samples, the head executive officer at Cartoon Network resigned on Friday due to fall out from the guerilla marketing campaign gone wrong in Boston for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. In an internal memo to the company, Samples stated that he hoped his resignation would allow this event to be put in the past and allow the company to move forward. The article goes on to say that he had been with the company for 13 years.

Speaking as a Bostonian, this is another footnote in an embarassing chapter of history for the city of Boston.

Although this was made by the creators of Soul Calibur and Tekken, this game is more like Power Stone meets Def Jam Vendetta than either of those two titles. You play as Brad Hawk, an out-of-town mercenary recruited to help stop a gang war. You’ll play through over 90 levels and recruit new fighters to your cause. This game boasts a line up of over 60 characters (among them Paul and Law from Tekken), many of which are unlockable. Multiplayer modes for up to four players help up the replay value. Although it’s simplified compared to Tekken, the fighting engine is actually deeper than most brawlers. You can perform counters, weapon strilkes, and even team up with another fighter to preform an assist. This may not be the deepest fighter you’ve played, but it’s definently fun to play, especially when you have friends over.

Ratchet from the original Transformers series was the Autobot’s chief medical officer, and transformed into an ambulance. While he might’ve been the obvious choice to peg as the pacifist, he frequently found himself in the heat of some of the most memorable battles in Transformers fiction, including being trapped on the Ark with Megatron, Starscream, Shockwave, and Galvatron from the future.

In the 2007 Transformer movie from director Michael Bay, Ratchet is loaded up as a modified Humvee built for search and resuce. This makes him one of the larger Autobots on the team. His robot mode has been surprisingly unseen in the rash of leaked design sheets, but now we have a sneak peek…

There is a leaked image showing detailed (though not final) designs for Green Goblin 2, Sandman, and Venom.

Its speculated that these may be control art for the video game, but one thing is for sure that Sony asked Aint it Cool take them down, so they’ve got to be close to final.

Jazz, the soulful Transformer made famous in the 1984-86 cartoon series by the voice of Scatman Crothers, has made it to the Transformers 2007 movie. Now after the jump you can see the car he turns into, and a detailed design sketch of his robot mode. (skip to the good part)

Producer Don Murphy has announced the last day of shooting the movie was today. Or at least major filming…

Today is the last day of main unit shooting. In two hours we’ll break for lunch. Then blow up more shit in downtown LA.
Next week a reduced unit with very few actors will head to different cities and pick up some establishing shots. Then some of the team will head to the Frozen North.
The film is basically done today boys and girls. And by done I mean filming. If ever there was a film that was really going to be made in post production, this is it. Much editing and many effects to go.
How do I feel? There is a promo reel that has been put together for exhibitors and retailers that is mind boggling. There is a trailer being put together for later this year that should blow your mind.
I’m feeling pretty good that we’ve made a film that you will like. Only time will tell.

Movie blog Screen Rant got a hold of some designs that are not going to be used in the Iron Man movie.

I post this as news in hopes that if this extremely cool looking armor is whats not being produced, then I anxiously anticipate what they think looks better. It doesn’t look directly like any of the variations I know (Stark has so many, I could be wrong…), but its got the color and style right.

YoJoe.com has a really interesting interview up with Ron Rudat. Rudat was a designer for the GI Joe franchise from 1980 to 1987. He was involved since the inception of the 3 3/4 inch line through what could be considered the golden years of the line. He gives some insight into the design process, in addition to a few of the inspirations for characters. Also, of note is the very last couple of lines in the interview. Check it out for yourselves. While roms and emulators are a sticky topic to discuss, I thought this was too good to pass up. Browsing 4chan, I found a hack provided by Romhacking.net which gives us Super Metroid, but totally reimagined. The entire game’s layout is different. As soon as you land in Crateria, it’s readily obvious. All the items, events and locations have been completely rearranged and the difficulty has been significantly increased as well. In addition to the different gameplay experience, the game physics have been altered as well. The speed at which you drop is faster and wall jumping (which is actual item you must obtain first) has become more fluid.

I’m only an hour in, but I’m definetly going to see this game through to the end. Obviously, I’m only providing the link to the patch for this game, but I’m sure the rom itself and an emulator can be found easily enough. this is internet, afterall.
