Free Game of the Week: Barkley – Shut Up and Jam Gaiden (PC)

Back in the 90s, there was a little known game called Barkley: Shut Up and Jam. It had it’s high points, but really, it was a little more than a rip off of NBA Jam, which was released a short time before. It got a sequel which was just as forgettable. Years later, a group of developers known as ‘Tales of Games’ used a copy of RPG maker to create a sequel. Instead of another NBA Jam clone, this sequel would instead be a role playing game about one of the greatest ballers in the sport. Oh, and according to it’s creators, the game’s story is canon.

Wonder Woman Pilot Fails to Make a Good Point About Vigilantes and the Law

Wonder Woman Torturing a Suspect

We’ve been following the Wonder Woman show since it’s inception, and although it would now appear that the show will not air, the pilot episode has made it’s way on to the Wild West that is the Internet. I managed to track down a copy and after giving it a good watch, I had many thoughts on it, mainly pertaining to how legal show veteran David E. Kelley has attempted to make an interesting point about Superheroes and the law, but failed to make a compelling argument or to come to a reasonable conclusion on this front.

SDCC 2011: Mattel’s Mattypalooza panel

This was the big one for a lot of those following at home. Mattel had some big announcements to make including Ghostbusters, Voltron, DC Universe and most especially Masters of the Universe (MOTU). ActionFigurePics actually got video of the whole presentation (seen above). I will not attempt to summarize in neat bullet point form the contents of the panel after the jump. Get ready because there were some big announcements!

Maximum Letdown: 8 Eyes (NES)

8 Eyes, developed by Thinking Rabbit and published by Taxan, can best be described as the lovechild of Mega Man and Castlevania. Just like Mega Man, you select stages and have to proceed in a certain order, while it’s graphics and gameplay are vaguely reminiscent of Castlevania. However, it can’t do either right, and is better off being given a $10 million bribe to remain out of all out lives.

The Avengers: First Teaser Trailer Online

Warning: This footage contains major spoilers for Captain America.
Joss Whedon’s big screen team up The Avengers rivals the sequel to The Dark Knight for geek buzz. And since The Dark Knight Rises has a teaser, it fits that we get one for The Avengers.

Fans who saw Captain America were treated to a preview of things to come, as is now Marvel tradition. However as this teaser build off the events of Thor and very greatly off the events of Captain America, I’m embedding the footage after the cut to avoid spoiling anyone. Click at your own risk. The clip actually contains more footage from Captain America than The Avengers which is why I’m being so extra careful.

I will note first that this is NOT the full teaser following Captain America, just a portion of it. So its a teaser for a teaser. That works. If you have any interest in seeing The Avengers, it would be worth it to see Captain America, as its probably the best Marvel Studios movie since the original Iron Man started this march toward the team up 3 years ago.
