Powetcast 107: Crisis Of Infinite Reboots

We already had our knee jerk reaction to the announcement, now comes the real deal: The Powetcast reacts to the new 52. The roundtable includes Zac Shipley, Captain Genius, Sean Orange, with special guest William West.

We’ll discuss our thoughts on the revamped DC Universe, theorize why some characters start from scratch and others don’t, and begrudgingly admit we all kinda like Rob Liefeld. We’ll also talk about the books that were worth reading and the ones we’re not going to continue on with #2.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Revealed

Game Informer has just posted the cover to their November 2011 issue which revealed Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, the sequel to High Moon Studios’ 2010 hit Transformers: War For Cybertron. From Game Informer’s website:

In 2010, High Moon Studios released War For Cybertron, finally giving Transformers fans a game worth getting excited about. Afterwards, the developer settled back and listened to what the fans wanted, going back to the drawing board to craft a new and improved follow-up.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron continues the story of the Autobots and the Decepticons and their bitter civil war, but changes and improves upon so many of the fundamental ideas that the developer considers the game a natural successor rather than a true sequel. We have over 12 pages of exclusive details on High Moon’s new project, including extensive story and gameplay explanations, concept art, and dozens of screenshots. Whether you love the Transformers, or you just love hearing about the next great story-driven action game, Fall of Cybertron should be on your radar.

Limited-run cover after the jump.

$20 Game of the Week: Demon’s Souls (PS3)

First off, I want to apologize. I know it’s been a while since the last $20 GOTW, but moving, along with an unwelcome hard drive failure have kept me busy. Thankfully now I’m back, and so is the $20 GOTW. Next week, I’ll have something even better. Anyway, with it’s spiritual successor hitting storeshelves next week, now is the perfect time to take a look at 2009’s sleeper hit, Demon’s Souls. Developed by From Software (Otogi, Armored Core, King’s Field), it’s noted for it’s punishing difficulty, deep RPG gameplay, and unique online modes.

Famicom Dojo Podcast: Learning Japanese Through Gaming

Japanese retro games can’t help you learn a new language, but if you’re a motivate collector you might find it’s a good way to keep your skill sharp if you don’t follow Vinnk’s recommendations: 1) Move to Japan, 2) Marry a Japanese person, 3) Take (or audit) a Japanese class. Sean and Vinnk tease their interview on Zoom In!! Saturday, and get sidetracked by their time searching Akihabara for some awesome video game deals.
