SDCC 2011: Mattel’s Mattypalooza panel

This was the big one for a lot of those following at home. Mattel had some big announcements to make including Ghostbusters, Voltron, DC Universe and most especially Masters of the Universe (MOTU). ActionFigurePics actually got video of the whole presentation (seen above). I will not attempt to summarize in neat bullet point form the contents of the panel after the jump. Get ready because there were some big announcements!

Club Lion Force Voltron transformation video

Mattel posted the above video on youtube to show off the features and transformation of the new lions, pilots and accessories they plan to offer on MattyCollector.com.

Transformers Leadfoot Likes Buttwipes, Antacids

Crass humor is nothing new to the Live Action Transformers universe. So it is in this spirit that I present new images of the Target Exclusive deluxe Leadfoot action figure.

These three images were taken from an ebay auction, as the figure has not yet been released.

Leadfoot’s alternate mode is the #42 Target Racer from NASCAR, which like all vehicles features multiple sponsors. Leadfoot’s robot appearance features a prominent ‘belly’ making him the fattest Transformers character since Grand Convoy. It is fitting then that his rear panels have logos for Cottonelle (toilet paper) and Tums (antacid). He may fuel up on Energon, but I’ll be he also has a lot of gas.

This is funny because he is fat.

SDCC 2011: Preview Night – Ghostbusters

There were a few nice items on display that we had not seen before for Mattel’s Ghostbusters line, available only on MattyCollector.com. The new prop replica, following in the footsteps of the PKE Meter, is a ghost trap, available in Fall of 2011. Also on display was Vigo the Carpathian, whom we have not seen before. You can see more photos over at the Fwoosh where these photos originated.

SDCC 2011: Preview Night – Four Horsemen’s FanEx Raven and Outer Space Men

Michael Crawford got some really fantastic photos of the Four Horsemen’s booth. The image above is the most recent FANtastic Exclusive winner, the Raven. Its really just a stunning piece even without paint. Below are a few of the many pictures of the Outer Space Men. For more pictures of both and more, please check out MWCToys.com. I have not seen any Symbiotech in any image galleries so far, but I know many people are looking for them.

SDCC 2011: Preview Night – MOTU Classics

I hopped pretty quickly on the news about the Wind Raider being the MOTU Classics vehicle for 2011, but there were a several other items on display that I never saw until today. Among these items are some adorable Super Hero Squad-style MOTU figures, a new She-Ra and more.

Read on after the jump for the run down.

SDCC 2011: Preview Night – 6 inch Star Wars figures spotted at ThreeA booth

ActionFigurePics got some nice photos of some prototype Star Wars figures that were on display at the ThreeA Toys booth. Apparently, these figures are strictly prototypes meant to be shown to Takara and are not meant for sale. ThreeA is not making these toys. Yet? Ashley Wood of ThreeA toys took out the Stormtrooper to show off some of its seemingly decent articulation. On display were a carded Stormtrooper, uncarded Stormtrooper and a carded Boba Fett.

If, ever, a 6 inch Star Wars toy line ever made it to production, I fear it will set the action figure collecting world on its side.

SDCC 2011: Preview Night – Toynami

Michael Crawford got some great photos of the Toynami booth on Preview night of SDCC 2011. I’ve included some of them for each brand after the break, but if you want to see the full gallery please go check out his site! I’ll be adding pictures from other sites as I find them. Toynami had on display items ranging from Naruto, Bleach, Futurama to some vinyl offerings.
