Preview Page of original Transformers revival, ReGeneration One

Back in July we found out the fans won out with their demand to continue the original Transformers comic series, picking up from issue 81.

That book is being “ReGeneration One” and is being written by longtime TF scribe Simon Furman with Andrew Wildman providing artwork in his original early 90s style. IDW comics publisher Chris Ryall has tweeted a colored interior page of the book without text. Ultra Magnus makes his US debut and Optimus Prime retains his Action Master form in this direct continuation of the events in the Marvel Transformers comic #80.

See here the cover and that interior page from issue 80.5, available on Free Comic Book Day

Robocop’s Peter Weller joins the cast of Star Trek

Robocop star Peter Weller joins the cast of J. J. Abrams' Star Trek sequel

It’s the clash of two completely unrelated sci fi franchises as Robocop himself, Peter Weller, join the cast of Star Trek for J.J. Abrams’ sequel to the 2009 reboot and theatrical hit! Peter Weller was in a few of the last episodes of Star Trek Enterprise, though that will surely have nothing to do with his role in this film.

Alice Eve has nice hooters in Star Trek

Also announced to join the cast a few days ago was Alice Eve. She’s pretty, and I haven’t seen her in a thing because she hasn’t played a cyborg in any movies… yet! To learn more about her try 10 seconds doing a google image search with safe search off.

You’re welcome.

$20 Game of the Week: Batman – Arkham Asylum (PS3, Xbox 360, PC)

In 2009, Rocksteady developed the first good Batman game since the 16-bit days (okay, it was that but…) the best Batman game in recent history (okay, it was that too but…) the definitive Batman game (it was that until Arkham City was released earlier this fall) the second best Batman game ever. By taking cues from Bioshock, Metroid, and some of Marvel’s recent games, Batman Arkham Asylum puts players in the role of the Caped Crusader in a way that few games have done before. By presenting its own visual style and providing tons of fan service, Batman Arkham Asylum becomes one of the best comic-inspired games of this console generation.

Herman Cain quotes a Pokémon song

Herman Cain loves Pokemon

A while back Herman Cain, a Republican Party Presidential nominee, referenced “a poet” and dropped the following inspirational quote:

Life can be a challenge, life can seem impossible, but it’s never easy when there’s so much on the line

It turned out this quote was actually from the main song from “Pokémon: The Movie 2000”. “The Power of One” was sung by Donna Summer.

William Shatner and Carrie Fisher’s Flame War

Princess Leia kissing Captain James T. Kirk

It’s Flame War Central as the eternal question of Star Trek vs. Star Wars heats up with celebrities representing both franchises lashing out with Internet videos attacking each other! It’s no coincidence that this happens so soon after the Powetcast episode 109: Star Wars vs. Star Trek dropped, as I got inspiration to do this show after watching William Shatner’s original video “Star Trek v Star Wars” a while back.

Data kissing C3P0

In the original video, William Shatner, who played Captain James T. Kirk in the original Star Trek series, calls out Star Wars as being derivative and argues there isn’t really any comparison. This prompted Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the good Star Wars movies, to respond with her own video “Star Wars is SOOO Much Better than Star Trek“, where she argues various silly things to support her franchise being superior such as better merchandising and her hot ass. Finally Shatner has come back with his latest “Dearest Carrie…” where he retaliates and mocks Star Wars for being nothing but effects.

Keep reading for thoughts and the videos in question.
