Super Mario Galaxy Prologue

With new Halos, Metroids, and Zeldas now released, our eyes can now safely turn toward the next big sequel this fall: Mario.
This new video from the Japanese version showcases a welcome return (with music!) from a past Mario game.

All this courtesy the new Japanese Super Mario Galaxy site. If you’re shy about clicking because you don’t know the language, you can get more from Gametrailers.

Caine says Joker is SCARY.

Joker Scary
Michael Caine says Heath Ledger as The Joker is “one of the scariest performances I’ve ever seen.” He said this, of course, caught off guard doing press for another movie to MTV Movies Blog.

Bold words, but Batman Begins had some bold performances as well. I’m not ashamed to admit, I freaked out a couple times during the Scarecrow/gas stuff. Christopher Nolan is a great director of suspense more than action.

Then again, Caine and other actors have been very positive about Ledger, and even if he’s great, I can’t help but suspect some studio damage control is going on.

Nintendo Gives Away Free Wii Remote Jackets

wiijacket.jpgWhen I heard Nintendo was sending out free Wii Jackets, I anxiously hit up their site to see what I could add to my winter ensemble. Unfortunately, these jackets won’t keep the cold out on those long Wisconsin winter nights, but rather another measure to keep that white baton from launching out of my sweaty gaming hands.

Click here to request a new slip cover for your Wii remote. The picture on the right makes the whole thing look kinda abnormally shaped and goofy, but I’ll save further criticism until I actually get one in my hands. Speaking of hands, Nintendo has some of the most exquisite hand models I’ve ever seen. They bring back the elegance and class of Ray McKigney.

Radiohead’s “In Rainbows” in 10 days

radiohead.jpg
A short while ago I heard that Radiohead wouldn’t sell on iTunes, which I thought was fair because a per-track sale of an album band is like selling books by the chapter or movies by the scene.

Now we know why. Radiohead will sell their new album, titled In Rainbows, as a download only from InRainbows.com, available October 10th 2007. They’re also printing up a CD box set including the album, a disc of bonus tracks, artwork, and 2 heavyweight vinyl records.

The disc box will ship on December 3rd for £40, about $81 US dollars. Buying the disc box gets you the download on October 10 as well, so you won’t have to wait for the new album. If you’re looking to just download the new songs, the cost space is blank. You simply enter whatever cost you think is appropriate. They’re dead serious. Name your own price for new Radiohead.

This is an absolutely shocking and bold move by a band I can usually count on for bold moves. I can’t wait to hear it. Its been 10 years since I walked down the the record store and bout OK Computer, and I’ve been a huge fan ever since.

Justice League Movie Casting, Story Updates

brave_bold_28.jpgA lot of news with the League, I’ll start with the people…
Firstly, my big awesome idea of putting Welling in tights isn’t going to fly. Will it be Routh? How many Supermen do we need?
Next, Jessica Biel was apparently offered and then passed the role of Wonder Woman. As much as I’d like to see her in this outfit, I don’t think she’s right for the role. We got one shot, the gal they cast should be an amazon. A relative unknown, Victoria Hill has been tested for the role, and may just get it.
UGO got a leak of the supposed script for Justice League, and it sounds like a mixture of the comics Tower Of Babel and some of the OMAC/Brother Eye stuff. Basically elaborating on Batman’s files on how to take down the other leaguers, and them falling in the wrong hands, and being used to turn them against each other. They imply a shocking ending thats on par with “Luke, I am your father.”

The script could be a fake, the casting is still far from finished, but with so much chatter on the blogs, the early buzz is starting to become genuine hype. I hope they can deliver, because as I’ve said with all adaptations: I’d rather have NO movie than a BAD one.

Halo 3 Feedback & Game Night!

halo3-party-big.jpg
OK, now you have it. Maybe you got it at midnight, maybe on your break from work or school, maybe on your way home today: but if you own an Xbox 360, today is the day you get Halo 3. What do you think? Chime in using the comments section for this post (No spoilers!) or register for our forums and visit the Halo 3 Appreciation Thread, where you can discuss the games’ story, revelations, and ultimate outcome.

Tonight, many Powet forum members and staff will be online playing matchmaking and co-op. Feel free to post your gamer tag at our XBOX Live section, and add us to your list. Its a weeknight, but we’ll be on as late as we can.

October 6th we’re going to have an official Powet Game Night for Halo 3. You’ll have a week and a half to work on your skills, learn the new maps, create your custom Spartan, and come up with some new game types to share. More details will be posted to the forums soon.

Happy Halo Day!

Halo 3 Manual Online

Halo 3 ArtYes, a few weeks ago we posted some stuff from the manual. And yes, on September 13th, Powet was shut down for a period of 20 hours for not removing the material at Microsoft’s request.

Now, as if to rub it in our faces, Microsoft has posted the entire book, using this new Silverlight app, which I’m installing and will probably never use again.

So here you go. Halo 3 Manual. Thanks for enforcing that DMCA stuff, Microsoft.

13 hours until I can play this game…

Transformers 2 Scheduled for 2009

Optimus Prime ready for action
The Los Angeles Times is reporting on the comings and goings of Hollywood moguls Stephen Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and David Geffen with their company Dreamworks SKG and dropped this nugget of info:

Even if he leaves, Spielberg will remain the crown jewel of the acquisition [of Dreamworks by Viacom] for many years. He and director Michael Bay have signed on to make “Transformers 2,” scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2009.

Bay has been iffy on whether there’s time to make the movie before the strike, and producer Don Murphy has flatly stated as much.
Strike or not, they all want to see the Autobots back, and so this movie will get made. If there’s no strike in June 2008, you can expect Transformers in 2009.
