PowetToys: Collectors Edition – Tampography/Pad Printing

Overall, I found this video to be interesting, informative, and entertaining. I enjoyed learning something new about the toy production process. I look forward to seeing more videos about how toys are produced. I will say though, I am mildly disappointed that you didn’t make a sexual joke about the transfer pads. I mean come on, you couldn’t think of anything dirty after stating the transfer pad consideraions (Size, Shape, & Durometer)?

A nice spin off idea and an interesting look at something I honestly hadn’t given too much thought.
Out of curiosity, did you come upon this looking for Transformers Transtech information?
The actual point of transfer was the confusing part for me, I didn’t quite understand what was going on with that blade at first.

This was always something I was curious about since faction symbols were done without stickers. The symbols were so clean, I couldn’t understand how it was done and sometimes on uneven surfaces. The thing that really triggered me to start researching this process, though, was the Tampo on MOTUC Faker’s chest. A completely uneven surface, but such a cleanly applied decal.

I was curious and therefore figured it might be something other people were curious about. I did check tfwiki.net to see if they had any information and they basically just had a link to ITWTranstech.com. I definitely saw the coincidence in the naming though.

I should also say that it never occured to me just how many examples of pad printing can be seen anywhere. The labeling on most cds and dvds are large tampos. The text on your remote controls are pad printed. Decals on pint glasses are often pad printed. Look at your keyboard. More pad printing. Its gotten to the point where I look around and actually look for things that aren’t pad printed.

Cool Video Crazy! Its cool ya brought about a concept that effects us in our everyday lives even thou we don’t realize it. Plus Tamporgraphy is a term you really don’t here about. I think the first time I heard about Tamporgraphy was from my dad. He was showing off his electronic football players to me. Where the team logos on the helemts are done now by tampography stamps and its just amazing the detail they cna get on such on small surface.

Great video B-Rad. Not something I ever really thought of so it’s great to learn how this works. Now when I look at a newer toy, I’ll have a better appreciation of what went into it.
