Pokémon Trainer in Super Smash Bros Brawl

Having Pikachu on hand and dozens of Pokémon in balls as items just wasn’t enough. Now we’re getting a Pokémon Trainer as a playable character!

True to Pokémon games, he doesn’t do any actual fighting, he merely commands Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard in battle. You can switch out between the 3 characters at will, but they share damage. Balancing the 3 will part of the challenge. Are they still allowed to use Pokéballs?

Oh, and before I forget, there is a Canadian Best Buy flyer showing Sonic with the cast of Smash Bros. Fact, Fiction, or just Wishful Thinking?

Super Smash Bros Brawl: The Subspace Emissary

Smash updates daily with news about the new game, but today they let loose some that the game will actually have a full single player game. Super Smash Bros Melee on Gamecube had a single player game that didn’t exactly have a story, it was some light side scrolling with lots of combat.

Lots of screens and some hints for what this mode includes can be found here. I’m getting kind of a Kingdom Hearts vibe off the whole thing: many characters who don’t belong together working and fighting together.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Release Announced

Some more E3 goodness being thrown your way, it would appear that Nintendo has saved one of it’s biggest announcements for the media event. It’s been proclaimed that Super Smash Brother’s Brawl will have a release date of December 3rd of this year.

However, it seems that’s about all Nintendo has released about the game. The company is keeping a tight lip as to any other real details, so seeing much else come about from E3 may be wishful thinking. Regardless, the game’s hype looks to make the later release date well worth the wait.

Here’s a short clip of the announcement with some footage from the game.

Comments (12) Updates with Remixed Metroid Tune

screw-attack.pngFor those who know, has been updating daily with interesting little snippets of information and gameplay details about the anticipated Wii release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. These updates have been occurring for a number of weeks. So why make a fuss about today’s update? Well, because they have added a short music clip that remixes one of my favorite songs in all of video-game-dom, (it’s a word, look it up).

Check out the remix of Ridley’s Theme right here!

May it brighten your day as much as it has mine.

GameHead Miyamoto Super Tribute

SpikeTV’s GameHead took their entire episode this week to honor Shigeru Miyamoto. In addition to Geoff Keighly interviewing the man himself, they also took comments from the editors of Kotaku and GoNintendo, the cast of Mega64, and the GameJew. Charles Martinett, the voice of Mario, provides narration between segments.

Its an interesting retrospective, but the secretive Nintendo hero doesn’t give much of a look forward other than the tease that a once cancelled game may still see release.

Kojima: “Smash Bros Brawl Is A Lot Of Fun”

Hideo Kojima, mastermind of Metal Gear Solid, has played Super Smash Bros Brawl. Not only has he played it, he said:

The game already feels very complete, it’s already a lot of fun and that you guys (Sakurai’s studio) could put it out now, and it would sell millions of copies.

This is very, very good news. For Hideo Kojima, since he got to play it and we didn’t. The rest of us will have to put up with the fact that what will surely be the biggest Wii title yet is coming along great. I guess a 2007 release date isn’t out of the question?

This news comes from the Kojima Productions podcast, which I never would’ve suspected is in English!
