For the past few years this show has been largely an embarassment to hardcore and casual gamers alike. Aside from the terrible presentation, awards and nominations are given to brand new unreleased games or ones with big sponsors. Just glance at the apparent mediocrity in the 2005 Winners.
But this year might be different. The first ad is from Mega64, and while they’ve done contract work for years with Ubisoft, they also don’t hold any punches.
We’ll have to wait for December 13th to find out if this is just one clever ad, or a sign of a change. [Read the rest of this entry…]
32 years ago today the Sanrio company came up with the concept of a cat made out of some sort of marshmallow that took the world by storm. Join us as we celebrate the birth of the most popular character ever to be based on nothing.
Thanks to Trevor and Tash for letting me know about this day. Now here’s Hello Kitty showing you the finger:

No one on Powet staff is getting one, and we’ve all got better things to do than talk to anyone who is. But the PS3 pre-order lines are news, and Screw Attack sent Stuttering Craig down to a Toys R Us to taunt the shirtless guy in a lawnchair waiting to spend his $600.
From the “people will buy anything” file we bring you a video game about guys who ride lawnmowers.
Not to be confused with the mid-90’s video game “The Lawnmower Man” based on the movie of the same name, this is a simulation where you race lawnmowers. Not only that, but it’s officially sanctioned by the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association.
I can barely contain myself thinking about this game, so I’ll let this passage from the website describe it:
What happens when you turn a household chore into the wildest mowtorsport to hit the nation in years? Grab your helmet, bore out your cylinders and get ready for the ultimate MOWdown!
Lawnmower racing is sweeping the country in a grass-roots movement that brings all the excitement of open wheel racing to a dirt-in-your-face, spine-jarring new level.
* Race against legends like Bobby Cleveland, George Herrin, Mr. Mowjangles and Sodzilla.
* STA-BIL Circuit, Free Mowin’ and multiplayer modes.
* Unlockable upgrades including engines, chassis, jerseys and more!
* Learn more about real lawnmower racing in the “Mowpedia.”
It’ll be available this tuesday for XBOX and PC for only $19.99, making this an ideal future candidate for the $20 GOTW.

The good folks over at Overtime Comedy have posted the final installment of the Mario In Myspace series. I don’t know if its as funny as the first 2, but since I didn’t post either of those, check out all 3 after the jump.
Remember that show Friends? Remember Thundercats? Right now you’re only able to think about the memorable theme songs to those shows since in function neither was very good.
As a fitting tribute to terrible animation combined with terrible live action, here is a 90’s band’s cover of an 80’s cartoon theme song.
Apparently this gem is found on the second season dvd set for the Thundercats show. But now thanks to INTER-NET, you can see for free and not pay.
