Quadruple point weekend on Transformers War for Cybertron

Have I got some good news for you, poweteers! I was logged in to some multiplayer on War for Cybertron last night and noticed the marquee in the waiting room announcing that this weekend will be a QUADRUPLE XP weekend starting Friday at 6PM PST. Normally this would be great news on its own, but add this to the fact that this weekend will play host to PowetTV’s August game night featuring no game other than Transformers War for Cybertron. For more on game night and who to add to your friends’ list to play, check out the thread in our forum here.

Soundgarden Will Release Hits Retrospective With Next Guitar Hero

Soundgarden announced their intent to reunite some time ago (the group split back in 97) and they’ll take the stage for the first time since then at Lollapalooza this weekend. Coincidentally, it was at Lollapalooza in 1996 that I saw Soundgarden while touring in support of their last studio album.
Anyway, their next release is Telephantasm, which is much like their last release A-Sides, a greatest hits album with one new song. What a value to those of us who supported Soundgarden and already own the albums!

Its not all doom and gloom though, since the first million copies of the next Guitar Hero title, Warriors Of Rock, will include the single CD version that album. The unreleased song “Black Rain” will be on the CD and will be available for play in the game. The game releases September 28, and the standalone release of Telephantasm will not release until October 5, so you can get a limited Soundgarden fix a week early!

Hit the jump for the full track listings to the CD and the limited edition CD/DVD combo.

Powet Alphabet: A is for Apple ][

Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

Maybe you’ve heard of Apple. Maybe you’re viewing this article on Apple’s newest handheld mobile device right now.

When I first heard of Apple, I was three or four years old, and I was introduced to it as my first gaming machine. You might know about about iPhone and Macs, but do you know about the machine that made Apple a household name and carried them into the ’90s? Read on!

$20 Game of the Week: Vampire: the Masquerade – Bloodlines

vampirethemasqueradeForget about Twilight and all these other vampire films that make the creatures of the night look like goth-emo jerks. White-Wolf pen-and-paper role playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade has been doing the modern-day vampire bit for years, better than anyone else. Bloodlines is the second PC game based on the series (the first was Redemption, although Bloodlines isn’t a direct sequel). Despite the bugs and glitches that were present when the game was first released, the pen-and-paper RPG mechanics translate well to PC, and the game offers a number of options to play through it. Besides Half Life 2, this was the one of the first games to make use of Valve’s Source Engine, so the graphics were pretty good for their time.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Trailer

GameSpot has the first look at Activision’s newest Spider-Man game, which has the wall crawler going all Jerry O’Connell on us and traveling to alternate dimensions.
The above trailer shows us the “noir” dimension, which looks to me more like Batman with Spider-Man’s powers. Since we now have regular Spider-Man, and dark Spider-Man, it will be interesting to see what the next 2 dimensions end up being. Thoughts or theories? Leave a comment. I’m putting a dollar on Marvel Zombies and Anime Spider-Man myself.
