I was hoping that the Opera web browser for the Nintendo DS would b ea relatively cheap piece of software. After all it’s not a game or anything. It’s just added functionality. The kind of thing you have built in to a lot of things.

While the browser will not be released soon in North America it will be released next week in Europe. Prices for the system, such as that at Gameplay have it at £25 which I won’t bother converting to US dollars as our prices on games are so much different. So much to say it’s equivalently priced to other new Nintendo DS games. So expect to pay as much in stores for this as you would for any other DS game when it’s released.

In a follow up to Thursday’s early reports of the series cancelation Spike TV has confirmed that Blade: The Series will not be renewed for a second season.

As is fully expected for any series of any popularity or quality getting canceled before or after it’s prime the hordes of fans are launching a futile campain to save the show.

There is also mention that there will be a DVD release though no details were announced to that extent.

Nintendo’s going back to the begining of time looking for games to release on the Wii Virtual Console. The November issue of Nintendo Power reports that the virtual console will include games from the Commodore 64. No hint at pricing or games is made but that’s no reason for people not to start speculating.

Cubed3 tells us that game company Epyx will have some of it’s games for the system.

I’ll be honest. I’ve never played Commodore 64. I have no idea what games we could be getting and I probably won’t be getting any of them. I just hope we get some Vectrex games at some point.

Well, seeing as Zac, Caleb, Sean, Crazy, Sam and who knows who else have arrived at Botcon while I’m stuck at home behind a monitor, it’s my job to relay any information they pass on to me, as well as organizing all the information and links available throughout the net regarding this year’s Botcon and Transformers.

The news just hit – Robert Downey Jr. has been cast to play Iron Man. While I’m typically hesitant to put stock in what AintItCoolNews has to say, Reuters has already got an article running on it too. As Marvel Entertainment’s first independently produced film, it sounds like they’re doing a pretty good job with picking and choosing the people involved.

According to the article:

Marvel president of production Kevin Feige said the filmmakers looked for the best actor to embody the character.

“The Marvel characters are not just about how high they jump or how fast they fly, they’re about their character flaws,” Feige said. “They’re about their inner demons. They’re about the struggles that they go through between being a man and being a hero.”

Downey, who has battled his fair share of inner demons, worked hard to get the role, getting in shape and even growing a goatee like the one Stark sports in the comic books.

“Actor” Dustin Diamond, best known as Samuel “Screech” Powers on TV’s Saved By the Bell, has made a porn video. According to the New York Daily News Screech’s 40 minute porn will feature him in a 3 way with 2 girls, one of whom will receive a Dirty Sanchez. You’ll have to watch the video to find out which lucky lady gets the honours!

Blade star Jill Wagner, who plays Krista in the series, posted a bulletin using her MySpace page with the following message:

Just wanted to say thanks again to all of you who supported me and Blade the Series. I was just informed today that there will be NO 2nd season of Blade the Series. I really enjoyed playing Krista and i hope that i did her justice at least for one season! However, that is not the end of Jill Wagner’s acting career. I will keep you guys posted on what’s next for me. Again i say thanks for the support. Hey, there is always the DVD right????

This is sad news to see after Kirk “Sticky” Jones had earlier mentioned in an interview that there would likely be a second season.

Still no official word from the people at Spike TV.

A new Villains trailer is available for the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game RIGHT HERE, and it’s actually pretty sweet.  It showcases a large number of villains, lists off some of the heroes, and shows off some of the battle locations in the process.

While all the heroes that flash by super-fast at the end are already listed on the official site, many of the villains shown are not, so here’s a rundown of who made an appearance:

• Doctor Doom
• Loki
• Fin Fang Foom (incorrectly spelled as FING Fang Foom)
• Blackheart (Mephisto’s son)
• Mephisto
• Mandarin
• Ymir (a frost giant, one of Thor’s enemies)
• Ultron
• Kurse (another Asgardian enemy of Thor’s)
• Ulik (a rock troll, ANOTHER Asgardian enemy of Thor’s)
• Arcade-Bot (presumably a robot of Arcade’s)
• and Galactus

So clearly, the game’s going to spend a decent chunk of time dealing with Asgardian problems, which hopefully means we’ll actually be in Asgard.  This is some good thinking, as it can lead to some scenarios and scenery which will be completely unique from not only the rest of the game, but from other comparable games (like X-Men Legends, or the upcoming Justice League Heroes).
