CBR brings us news that IDW announced a forthcoming series based on Hasbro’s Jem and the Holograms. The 80’s franchise featured a pink haired and bedazzled rock star and her band occasionally featuring their rivalry with fellow rockers, the Misfits. No word on when the comic will be hitting shelves, nor who will be working on it.
A feature film of Jem and the Holograms is currently in development under director John M. Chu, as well.

Some of our favorite Famicom and NES games are nearing the end of their respective lifespans. Famicom Disk System games degrade, no matter how well you take care of them. Cartridge games with battery backups will eventually lose power, along with your data, and never be able to save again. Even the batteries that help consoles like the PS2 and Dreamcase keep time are fizzling out. Is there anything we can do to stop it. Sean and Vinnk ponder the move to digital media as a way to preserve their game collections, but at what cost? No, literally, what would that cost? Especially since only a portion of those games are even available on anything but the original release media.

Hate Plus is the sequel to 2012’s Analog: A Hate Story. In that visual novel, players learned the terrible truth of the derelict space ship, the Mugunghwa, and what happened to its inhabitants. All that remained of the ship and its culture were it’s two A.Is, and it was up to players to piece together the events that led to the disaster that claimed the lives of its passengers. However, upon reading the log files, it was clear that the culture and society on the ship had regressed to feudal levels and traditions, where ruling families held all the power and women were treated as second class citizens. Hate Plus, beginning only a few moments after Analog ends, tells the story of the events leading up to ‘year zero’, the point when society regressed to the form seen in Analog. It’s an even more heartbreaking and gripping tale than Analog, and it will suck you right in provided you are prepared to do a lot of reading.
