Four Horsemen unveil Symbiotech Tygos and Tygolith

In the recent issue of ToyFare magazine, it was announced that the secret line that the Four Horsemen were putting together, in addition to The Outer Space Men, was in fact their homemade brand Symbiotech. One of many home grown properties that the group has developed, Symbiotech has been in the voting for their annual FANtastic Exclusive event since the start. The original pitch in the FANEx polls for the line was as follows:

Symbiotech is a dual scaled, beast/rider property where the connection between the two characters lies in their Sybiotech armor. When the larger beasts don Symbiotech armor, the smaller riders gain the ability to bond with the great beasts in order to become one destructive battle machine. As mentioned before, Symbiotech would be a dual-scaled line where the riders would be around three inches tall, and the beasts would be around eight inches tall. Each character would feature moderate articulation and character specific armor and weapons.

More info (and pictures) after the jump.

Thor and Captain America Movie Posters for ComiCon

capThis weekend Marvel is going to be showing off posters for their next two big movie offerings. Captain America and Thor concept art posters will be available from Marvel Studios and Paramount.

If you can’t make it to the show, or fear you’ll simply be lost in the vast expanse of one of geekdom’s biggest weekends, then you’ll be happy to check here to see the full artwork on each poster. Captain America takes to the streets of World War II Europe, and The Mighty Thor swings his hammer at rival Loki. Neither of these are direct stills from the movies, but will give you a really good idea what to expect.

aDam guest stars on Evil Avatar’s Shotgun Podcast

Evil Avatar - ShotgunThis week I guest starred on Evil Avatar’s Shotgun Podcast, a podcast about the wonderful world of video games! I first met up with Ben from Evil Avatar at PAX East 2010 when I tried to smash him over the head with a wrench while dressed as a Bioshock Splicer

This latest episode covers games like Limbo, Lego Harry Potter, Infamous, Transformers: War For Cyberton and Deathsmiles.

Maximum Letdown: Space Trader – Merchant Marine (PC, Mac OSx, IphoneOS, Linux)

spacetraderEven though it’s a bit immoral, I just love the drug dealing mechanic in GTA Chinatown Wars. It’s quite satisfying trying to make a dollar out of 15 cent by slanging dope. Now what if someone were to take that mechanic, make an entire game based around it, set it in space, make it into an FPS, and make it 200 percent more retarded? Well the end result would most likely be Space Trader – Merchant Marine, which is likely a remake of the old Palm Pilot OS game. I got this game as part of the Meridian 4 game collection that was only $24 during a Steam special (this special also included Shadowgrounds, Chains, and Larva Mortus). Although its economy-based gameplay premise shows promise, it’s bought down by too many flawed mechanics.

$20 Game of the Week: Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)

mgs4Hideo Kojima’s masterpiece is most likely the reason you bought a PS3, and for good reason. Like its predecessors, Metal Gear Solid 4 bends the rules of video game convention to become a landmark for its generation of gaming, and like its predecessors, it deserves a space on your shelf.

Powet Alphabet: C is for Crossovers

Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

Wherever Batgirl is, she's NAKED What do geeks like even more than our geeky pleasures? Seeing those geeky pleasures mashed together into incomprehensible new shapes, with ourselves in the middle of this new, geek-love sandwich of awesome. The fact that these things may not exist in the same “universe” (or owned by the same company) is hardly an issue! Pun intended.

Titillated? Read on!

Halo Reach: Buck, Johnson, Cortana, and Chief Are Back

reachclassics
Reach_InitialArmoryInventorBungie has posted their weekly update in advance of ComiCon. Its a pretty big info dump, reasoning they’d rather get out ahead of the players taking cell phone pics and just let people see the real deal. One of the images they posted is the “Initial Armory Inventory” and it represents the custom options for Multiplayer and Firefight game modes. Bungie has been championing the options for custom characters since day one, but this image shows a few people you didn’t expect.

Well, you wouldn’t expect them if you didn’t see the banner image on this post. From left to right thats Buck, Sgt Johnson, Cortana, and Spartan 117 himself: Master Chief. Allowing those hardened Marines to drop into Firefight is one thing, but Cortana comes out of nowhere. Will we have a playable glowing blue AI skin? Its that too weird?

How do we know this isn’t just a dump of artwork accidentally left in with new elements? Steve Downes, who provided the voice of Master Chief over 3 Halo games, has said he’ll be back in Reach.
