Captain Kirk vs. Captain Picard in “This Means War”

This Means War starring William Shatner, James T. Kirk, and Patrick Stewart, Jean Luc Picard

You may have heard about this Spy vs. Spy movie “This Means War” starring Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, so what’s so special about these stars? Well Chris Pine plays Captain James T. Kirk in the Star Trek reboot and Tom Hardy played a clone of Jean Luc Picard, Praetor Shinzon, in Star Trek Nemesis. If Hollywood casting is correct, this movie might as well star William Shatner and Sir. Patrick Stewart!

Which movie would you rather see?

EB Games (Canadian Gamestop) now sells new and used games side by side

New and used games side by side at EB Games (Canadian Gamestop) - Fallout New Vegas for PS3

Powet.tv staff have confirmed that EB Games stores in Canada are selling new and used video games side by side, though the yellow labels remain on used games. This news report on Kotaku mentioned that EB Games stores, the Canadian version of Gamestop, would start a policy of eliminating used game sections and instead storing new and used games together, both with white labels. While many questioned the validity of this news and referred to reports by employees to speculate… why didn’t anyone get off their ass and go to the damned store?

I did just that. I visited one of the many EB Games stores in Ottawa, Ontario (1719 Merivale Road to be specific) and I can confirm that, as these photos indicate, new and used games are indeed located side by side. New and used games sections still exist, while some sections with both exist as well. An employee mentioned they were renovating, so the current state of the store was very likely temporary.

Canceled Part 2: A Maximum Letdown Thanksgiving Special

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we certainly have a lot to be thankful for, such as our friends, family, jobs, health, and fortune. We as gamers especially have cause to be thankful. With all the games being canceled throughout the years, we’ve had several classic games that have made to store shelves. On the flip side, we should also be thankful for all the crappy titles that were not released. This is a follow up to this past summer’s article about canceled games. As you read this list, be thankful for all those triple A titles you enjoyed that were released.

Booster Gold Coming To Syfy?

Booster Gold, a football player from the future who traveled back in time for fame and fortune as a super hero, may be getting his own Syfy (SciFi Channel) original series. This was reported earlier today on The Hollywood Reporter.

Greg Berlanti, of this summer’s could-have-been-better Green Lantern, will produce and Andrew Kreisberg of Fringe will write the pilot. The same team also took a stab at THQ’s Red Faction video game series for Syfy earlier this year before the game publisher shut down the franchise.

A pilot for a proposed one hour weekly has been ordered, but no casting has been discussed yet. Eric Martsolf played Booster Gold in an episode of Smallville in the final season. Tom Everett Scott played the character in a single (great) episode of Justice League Unlimited, and reprised the role many times on Batman: The Brave And The Bold.

Booster’s best super buddy, The Blue Beetle, is not mentioned. Many, many volumes of this admitted second string DC hero are available both from his many solo adventures from his time in the Justice League. You can read almost any of them and they’re pretty good.
