It didn’t take long for the new Mortal Kombat game to reach the potential that NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. had been aiming for.
According to April sales reports listed on GiantBomb.com, the newest MK game sold over 900,000 copies, and crushed competition from Portal 2 and several other games released in the same month. Couple this with Ed Boon’s tweet that sales of the Kollector’s Edition and Tournament Edition actually put overall sales totals at over 1 million, and you’ve got a complete Fatality of records for only being out less than a month. Kongratulations!

I really tried to get excited about Wonder Woman. David E Kelley didn’t exactly have a lot of credentials for Superhero shows, but at least he knew how to write shows with female leads.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Adrianne Palicki will not appear on TV as Diana Prince or Wonder Woman. Apparently the big problem wasn’t so much the costume (which fans derided) but Kelley’s script that didn’t have enough action and test audiences reported mixed reviews.
So what will happen now? Warner Bros TV might try to shop the show around, they do own several cable outlets and have a stake in the CW. For that matter, the CW might take the show they previously passed on since Smallville’s final episode airs tonight.
The short history of Wonder Woman can be followed here:
Adrianne Palicki Cast As Wonder Woman on February 16
TV’s Wonder Woman Costume, Logo, and Villain on March 18
Wonder Woman Set Pictures, The Costume Has Changed! on March 30
From casting to cancelled in less than 3 months!

Fans of all things good and pony filled were disappointed to learn that the hit show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic received ZERO Daytime Emmy nominations this year. Another show on Hasbro’s network “The Hub”, Transformers Prime, received a total of 6 underserved nominations.
It’s becoming more and more clear now that even amongst Transformers fans, who one would imagine would be predisposed to like a Transformers show, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a much more beloved and popular show.
Why would such an objectively superior show get ignored in favour of a fairly uncompelling run of the mill Transformers series? One that no fan would mention if asked to count their favourite Transformers shows on one hand? A show that replaced a fan favourite superior version and completely failed to live up to the precedent? Well it’s an awards show. If these idiots ever got it right, that would be the real surprise.
So ignore the Emmys, because they suck, and this is just another fine example. A well deserved Emmy win is as unexpected as a show accurate Applejack hat.

With the current revamp of Mortal Kombat surpassing all expectations of sales and quality, it was only a matter of time before the original ‘trilogy’ was re-released.
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, as revealed by Warner Bros today, is going to be a single $10 download in Xbox Live or PSN that will include the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Previously, Midway released UMK3 on XBox Live and MKII on PSN, but with that publisher out of business both games have long since been removed from the storefront.
The games are said to be the original arcade versions, enhanced with online play, leaderboards, and achievements/trophies. Graphics are not expected to be revamped, only upscaled to HD.
Rumors of the collection surfaced a few months ago, originally pegging the collected games at $39.99 on a Playstation 3 exclusive disc. While you won’t have another disc for your shelf, its hard to complain about getting the collection at a quarter of the price of the rumors!
Full press release follows.

Welcome back to the stage of history!
Soul Calibur, easily Namco’s 3rd or 4th most popular game series, will return to PS3 and 360 in 2012.
There is potential for a big shakeup in the series, as this chapter takes place 17 years after the events of Soul Calibur IV. Nightmare and Siegfried Schtauffen are confirmed for a return, but the primary protagonist will be the son of Sophitia Alexandra, a new character named Patroklos. Will fan favorites like Ivy, Taki, or Voldo be too old to join the fight? Will they also be replaced with heirs to their fighting style? No guest characters are inferred or expected, but a history that includes Link, Kratos, and Darth Vader means we can probably expect that reveal in time.
In a time when revivals of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Marvel VS Capcom are bringing 2D fighters back into vogue, Soul Calibur will proudly continue its 8 way run traditon, giving fighters full control over the field to dodge and attack.
