Toyfare Reveals Hasbro’s First Wave of Marvel Legends

Marvel Legends2006.07.11 13:41 EST: Huge news for Marvel Legends fans! ToyFare has gotten their hands on a picture of one of the new figures along with a listing of the rest of the assortment, which is sure to be on display at next week’s San Diego Comic Con.

From the Wizard site:

The first series of Marvel Legends to be released by Hasbro, who takes over the Marvel license from Toy Biz in January, will feature Planet Hulk [pictured], Banshee, Hercules, Movie Beast, Emma Frost, Ultimate Iron Man, and Annihilus as the build-a-figure! Check out ToyFare #109, on sale Wednesday, for more images of the figures, as well as images of movie Ghost Rider toys and new Spider-Man figures from Hasbro!

Marvel Legends Annihilus Wave  Marvel Legends Annihilus Wave

It looks like build-a-figures are here to stay as they clearly have gotten collectors to buy entire waves far more eagerly. Of note, is the presence of Ultimate Iron Man, not to be confused with the Modern Armor Iron Man of Toy Biz Wave 8. I’m sure his presence is due to the impending movie release. Rememer that there are still a few more waves of Toy Biz figures to go before these ever see the light of day.

Let the speculation on variants begin.

[Update – Crazy: 2006.07.12 12:33 EST ToyFare has posted a picture of Banshee on their forums after great speculation on the quality of the line based on the Hulk figure. They also reminded us that these were very early prototypes so some results may vary. I added the Banshee picture next to the Hulk above.]

[Update 2 – Crazy 2006.07.13. 12:00 EST I found some scanned in pages from the latest ToyFare that reveals the line up. The images came from here. Images added above. Again.]

Future of Marvel Legends to be revealed at SDCC?

It seems the organizers of SDCC have put up a panel description that pretty much tells us one way or another what will happen to the popular line now that its in Hasbro’s hands. Here’s the description:

2:00-3:00 Hasbro/Marvel: Marvel Legends. Spider-Man Origins. Superhero Squad and much more!— Find out what it’s all about at the first Hasbro/Marvel panel ever! Jesse Falcon from Toy Biz joins Hasbro team members Billy Lagor, Randy Shoemaker, and Brian Wilk. Don’t miss this opportunity to see a sneak peak of what Hasbro has in store for their spring 2007 Marvel line. Room 8

You may remember Jesse Falcon from an interview we linked to here. Hopefully we will get more than just news and see some prototypes or designs of some sort. I also wouldn’t complain about a slightly less skewed Spider-man to Villain ratio in any Spider-man lines they are working on.

GI Joe 2006 Collector’s Convention Overview

Last weekend was not only an American holiday, but it was also the GI Joe Collectors’ Convention down in New Orleans. Since there was plenty of coverage, I thought I’d try to pull together what I could from different sources and put it all in one place for your reviewing pleasure.

After the jump you will see all my findings. Enjoy.

Transformers Teaser Trailer surfaces

Transformers: The MovieSam has sent me a link to what appears to be the Transformers movie teaser trailer. Not much of a glimpse into what the movie is like. Its pretty much exactly what its supposed to be. A teaser.

[Edit – Crazy: It seems the user who posted the Teaser on YouTube has since removed it. No explanation is given, but one can only assume that all the traffic it generated in the span of the few hours it was up today was a little too much attention.]

[Edit 2 – Crazy: Its up again here. There is also a text description of it here.

[Final Edit – Zac: Paramount pictures has released the trailer to the Official Transformers Movie Website]

Transformers Movie: Picture of Bumblebee on the set

Transformers: The MovieDemona just linked me to a picture of the back of Bumblebee on the set of Transformers: The Movie. I have added it after the jump so as not to spoil it, but I must say this is pretty neat. I really wasn’t excited about this movie at all until I glimpsed this picture.

Spider-man 3 Teaser available today

Spider-man 3 TeaserSony Pictures has a press release stating that Apple Trailers will be hosting the first Teaser Trailer to Spider-man 3 at 2:30 PM EST today. It seems as though it has already been leaked onto YouTube, but I couldn’t find the exact one because of so many fan-made trailers. I can’t seem to find a link to this mysterious press release at the moment either, but when I do, I’ll update this post.

I also came across some more pictures from the set here.

See the trailer now here.
