Powet Toys: Botcon 2007 Exclusives Hands-on

I attended Botcon 2007 this year and was able to get my hands on all of the exclusives. I decided to do a quick hands on with all ten exclusives. I divided it up into two 10 minute videos because its long, a little boring, and not very in depth. If you’d like me to do a more in-depth look at each of the exclusives with more background information and the full transformations, please let me know by commenting on this post below. Thanks!

Part 1: Dirge, Thrust, Thundercracker, Dreadwind and Bugbite

Part 2: Springer, Huffer, Weirdwolf, Alpha Trion, and Phasing Mirage

For the initial announcements on each figure in the main set go to the following links:

[EDIT – CRAZY: It has been brought to my attention that Don Figueroa did the art for the cover of the box set and not Dan Khanna. Apologies.]

Hasbro Marvel Legends Wave 1 …Recalled?

HML01 Hercules Recalled

A reader over at Action-Figure.com wrote in to the site with the following message:

Adrian,

Thought you’d like to know: Toys R Us has received an RTV (Return to Vendor) order for the entire Series 1 release for Marvel Legends.

In black and white on the RTV order, the reason for the recall states “poor sales”.

Hopefully, this means Hasbro will get their act together and work on better quality product and pricing.

This order means that Toys R Us can’t mark the product down… they have to return the product as soon as possible. This is a major line for Hasbro to cross. Toys R Us is not responsible for the cost of the product.

Peace,
CC

If you are in need of completing the Annihilus wave, you had better do it soon. You may not have the chance in the near the future if you wait too long.

Its interesting to note that while some of these figures have really not sold well at all (Emma Frost, Banshee I’m looking at you!), others have been scooped up as soon as they hit shelves including Ultimate Iron Man, Planet Hulk, and Hercules.

Mr. Wizard passes away

Mr. Wizard from 1951 Mr. Wizard recent

July 10, 1917 – June 12, 2007

I wanted to post this because, in the same way that our comic book superheroes and the characters from mainstream media inspire us to strive toward a goal, Mr. Wizard inspired countless people with his television shows in the 50’s and the 80’s.

Below are a few snippets from the write-up at MAKE.

Donald Jeffrey Herbert “Mr. Wizard” (July 10, 1917 – June 12, 2007) brought science and fun to millions in the 50s, then again in the 80’s.

Watch Mr. Wizard (1951) had 547 live episodes. The show won a Peabody Award. Mr. Wizard’s World (1983 -1990) was the longest running show on Nickelodeon. In 1955 there were about 5,000 Mr. Wizard Science Clubs nationwide with more than 100,000 members.

You can see more at Mr. Wizards Studios and there are plenty of clips on YouTube from shows.
