Spectacular Spider-man starts March 8

Spectacular Spiderman animated character designs

While we haven’t talked much about it on the site, I came across some more details on the new Spider-man animated series coming to the CW network. It will be premiering March 8 at 10AM EST. I didn’t realize it at first, but it appears that the character designs are actually done by Sean “Cheeks” Galloway, whom some of you may know from his character design work for the Hellboy Animated movies.

Nintendo Wavebird discontinued

Wavebird flies away post banner

Get them while you can, Nintendo fans. It appears the big N has decided to discontinue the popular wireless wavebird controller for the Gamecube (and Wii compatible). Fellow poweteer, Zac Shipley points us to this article which points to this article telling us of the sad news.

From GoNintendo.com:

I haven’t heard of any plans to offer the WaveBird Wireless Controllers in stores again (I did some checking, and we are still shipping the original Nintendo GameCube Controllers to stores). If you’re unable to find the original Nintendo GameCube Controller locally, you can still order this item from us. – Nintendo customer service rep

And yes, my sole reason for posting this was to have an excuse to make that Duck Hunt graphic. You may still find Wavebirds on Amazon.com, but prices vary.

Powet Toys: Hasbro Marvel Legends Wave 2 – The Blob

Show Notes:

This video is definitely on the longer side of what I’d prefer, but it does cover 9 different figures so its packed with toy video goodness.

How the bitch stole Christmas

How the Grinch Stole Christmas

I usually try to stay away from any profanity in news articles, but this was just so well done that I wanted to make an exception. To go along with the holiday sentiment today, I am posting a link to this parody of Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This one revolves around comic books. Here’s an excerpt:

Every Fan
Down in Fan-ville
Liked Comics a lot…

But the Bitch,
Who lived just North of Fan-ville,
Did NOT!

The Bitch hated Comics!
The whole Comics scene!
‘Though nobody knows how she turned out so mean.
It could be that her head wasn’t screwed on quite right.
It could be, perhaps, she wore panties too tight.
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that her chest was two sizes too small.

You can read the rest of odditycollector’s parody here.

Happy Holidays from the Powet.TV staff!

Trent Reznor interviewed on Year Zero, Radiohead and more

Nine Inch Nails logo

Wired.com has a really great (and reeeally long) interview up with Trent Reznor, lead and mastermind of the band, Nine Inch Nails. He talks at length about the surrounding story for the Year Zero album and how he went about, not only getting the story out to the fans, but getting them involved in it as well. Where each song on the album was just a snapshot of the times set fifteen years into the future, there was a surrounding story that needed to get to fans in a more modern way that didn’t involve marketing and squeezing profits from it. Reznor also talks on Radiohead’s recent ‘pay what you want’ offering for their album and how it went wrong.

There is audio for the interview, but its only 70 minutes long and will cut off toward the end due to the extreme length (about 90 minutes) of the talk.

Read it here.
