The humor that was in and has been inspired by the original GI Joe animated series is probably what I love best about it. In this episode, I pay special tribute to a hero and a villain who made me laugh.

The latest update from the Smash Bros creator Masahiro Sakurai is quite unpleasant.
Due to delays in the completion of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, we’ve had to change the release date of the game to Sunday, March 9th.
I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.
Ok, so the update was pleasant, its just the news thats bad. Put a new mark on your calendars kids. You’ve got an extra month to collect your Mario Galaxy stars, practice Rock Band drumming, and find Drake’s Fortune.
Amazon is having a Sale on all HD-DVDs and Blu Ray discs. This aggressive pricing might be the thing to really push the format war to the next level.
Now with titles up to 50% off, movies like Serenity are as cheap on HD-DVD as they are for standard definition.
Stock up and save a few bucks on movies, its not clear when this sale might end. Amazon normally prices movies pretty well, but this is a lot cheaper than I’ve seen them go before. See the entire selection of Blu Ray and HD DVD.
Don’t get too excited, this isn’t an actual game, more proof of concept.
An unidentified Japanese programmer made a version of Super Mario Bros thats controlled by your hand using a webcam. Watch Mario stumble through 1-1 twice before calling in for help.

Fighting games have a grand tradition of crossovers. Battletoads and Double Dragon, Marvel and Capcom, DoA and Halo, and now Star Wars characters will fill in the guest character slot in Soul Calibur IV according to 1UP.
Soul Calibur II had some very memorable guest characters, including Link from The Legend of Zelda. Obviously trying to tap into a phenomenom much bigger than just games, Namco has announce Yoda and Darth Vader will be playable characters. Even more interesting is the idea that MORE Star Wars characters and other guests may be announced and/or available via PS3 and Xbox 360 Download services.
UPDATE: Apparently Vader is exclusive to PS3, and Yoda is exclusive to Xbox 360. Video has also been added above

Theres been some problems with the first batch of guitars, drum pedals, and even microphones that come with Rock Band. Luckily, there is now a way to quickly fix them without sending off for a full repair and replace from EA.
Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 was lost somewhere over the South Pacific on September 22, 2004.
Or at least thats the premise behind the the TV show LOST. And now the show that so dearly loves teasing its fans and with viral sites and meta games has branched out into billboards for the fictional airline that led most of the cast to a mysterious island where they’ve been trapped for 67 days thus far.
The billboards point to a web site: FlyOceanicAir.com, which heralds the return of the airline to the air. Theres even a press release. Of course watching the little video is interrupted by a man wanting to know what really happened, and links to another site: Find815.
LOST will return with at least 8 new episodes on January 31st in the US on ABC.
In move determined to make him unpopular with readers of this site, Wisconson State Senator Jon Erpenbach is proposing a tax on videogames.
His goal is sound: Keep 17 year old delinquents in the Juvenile system instead of the harsher adult system, but using taxes on videogames may be the wrong way to go about it.
His reasoning:
“The idea being that this is kind of a kids-kids thing, in other words, if we’re going to do this for kids maybe this would be a good way to go about it. And if it’s not the best way, I’m open to any other way,”
This would put the burden on Wisconsin gamers (the vast majority over the age of 18) to fund the court system, and may put a stigma on videogames when they’re taxed at a higher rate. Wisconsin gamers are already talking about ordering games online where they won’t pay the tax
