Snake Eyes in GIJOE First Images!

SuperHeroHype has the amazing first images of GIJOE’s masked ninja Snake Eyes in the forthcoming motion picture.

I tell ya, people bitched about Wolverine being tall and not having the yellow suit, people bitched about flames on Optimus Prime, but no one is going to bitch about this.
Ray Park is the man behind the mask, and just like his role as Toad, the Headless Horseman, and Darth Maul; expect him to do some wild shit in this costume.
GIJOE, directed by Stephen Sommers, is currently filming and will be released Summer 2009.
Here is another shot in case the one above isn’t good enough.

Street Fighter II HD Remix detailed, beta coming

The above video with 1UP’s Dan Hsu shows some of the changes Capcom has made to the Xbox Live and Playstation Network remake of Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Taking a page out of Halo 3’s playbook, SSFIITHDR will have an Xbox Live beta test featuring just Ryu and Ken packed in with a purchase of Capcom’s next XBLA offering Commando 3. Its an 8 week test this spring, and the final Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will be out in summer.

Brawl In Madison: Smash Bros At Midnight

brawling.jpgAside from being one of the Powet Editors here, I’m also a sometime journalist, keeping tabs on local games news for the Madison, WI free newspaper The Isthmus and its web counterpart The Daily Page.

This past weekend I wrote about the Smash Bros midnight release and the turnout of local gamers, and thought you Powet readers might be interested.

Freezepop get “Brainpower” from Mega 64

Freezepop are a favorite musical institution of many gamers, due to their inclusion in many music games.
Game satirists and pranksters Mega64 were hired to direct their latest video, and it appears here and above. Enjoy.

“Brainpower” is from the 2007 album Future Future Future Perfect and is also featured in the game Rock Band Special Edition for Xbox 360

Gary Gygax 1938-2008

The world of gaming and fantasy has lost one of its fathers. Gary Gygax, creator of the Dungeons & Dragons, has died. He was 69.

Gary Gygax

News comes down from Troll Lord games, a small company Gygax was devloping games for. You can read more about the man at Wikipedia.

Farewell, Dungeon Master. Though I wasn’t much for your game, it is because of your games that the world of sci-fi fantasy and videogames are what they are today. You will be missed.

Powet Presents: Snow Crazy

Powet Presents is a short subject series featuing videos from Powet Community members. The subjects and opinions expressed in these videos are the rights of the video director and are not necessarily those of the staff or other Powet Community members.

This is not a typical Powet.TV video, instead its a series of shorts I spent some time making this month while I was snowed in. Madison, WI had the highest snowfall ever this season, and it took its toll on my sanity.
Regular Powet videos will resume shortly, but do expect more videos from the community this year as well. Enjoy!

Superman Music Box Set

supermanboxset.jpg
The quality of Superman movies varies greatly. Defenders even have trouble justifying The Quest For Peace.
But the quality of Superman music has been pretty much completely good. John Williams original score and the composers who followed him universally captured the Last Son of Krypton without words or images. Now Film Score Monthly is going forth with a limited to 3000 edition 8CD box set of every note from the Christopher Reeve Superman movies and selections from the 1988 Superman Animated Series.
Its currently on sale for $119.95 via Screen Archives Entertainment. If you’re interested, buy it now, because once they tick 3000 orders its done.

MLG’s Top 10 Halo 3 Moments

I had no idea MLG clips were running on ESPN. I also had no idea ESPN had a videogame show either called “Game Up”
But they do.
And you can watch it on their site.
Anyway the highlight reel above is pretty much exactly the kind of top ten you’d see on ESPN, but to Halo players you’ll see some extraordinarly awesome sniper moves and triple kills.
