Gears Of War 3 “Dust To Dust” trailer

Less than 3 weeks away from release, Epic Games has released a final trailer for the final game in the Gears Of War trilogy.

Just as they did with the “Mad World” and “Last Day” trailers, we have some very somber and calming music over a chaotic back drop. The song here is “Into Dust” by Mazzy Star.

Gearheads will finally get to play out Delta Squad’s last mission on September 20. If for some reason you did not play the previous games, you have wasted the last 5 years of you life. But its not too late, since Epic has released a “triple pack” that includes the first two games and all the expansion packs and maps for $30.

Marvel Short Film “The Consultant” Now Online

Yes, this is online right now, but it may be removed entirely in the near future. This is an extra on the Thor DVD. Its got Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson, and fills in some story between Incredible Hulk, Thor, and Avengers. And Iron Man. Apparently we can expect more shorts like this leading up to Avengers.

Another short titled “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” in also expected soon.

After the jump, see Joss Whedon talk about making Avengers.

Good Journey: A Masters Of The Universe Commentary Track

The wait is over! Zac, Crazy, aDam, and Sean narrate the 1987 motion picture classic: Masters of The Universe. Behavior that would get them kicked out of a theater is perfectly acceptable in the home.
In addition to silly comments about the movie’s performances and special effects, we do also add some historical insights and try to relate the film to its origins and current Masters Of The Universe Classics toy line. Also, there is a Pig Boy.

Halo 4 Begins “The Reclaimer Trilogy”

Franchise director Frank O’Conner says every comic, book, and additional content released around Halo over the last 4 years has been building up to this.

“Reclaimer” is a term used by 343 Guily Spark in the original game, “Halo: Combat Evolved.” Master Chief John 117 was charged with activating the Halo super weapon, but its vague use in the series may imply John specifically or any human or Forerunner who manipulated a Halo, The Ark, or a Shield World. This might sound all like gibberish to anyone who didn’t play Halo, and I can assure you its almost gibberish to me, and I’ve played all the games multiple times.

In any case, the concepts seen in the teaser seem to imply a lot more Forerunner structures and new planets will be explored in the new trilogy. Hopefully we’ve seen the last of the Flood, though. And the last of the Brutes. I could do without Skirmishers as well. You know what, lets just halo Halo 4 with all Hunters and Grunts! Yeah!

Below, hear some of the creators at 343 Industries talk about taking Halo into future. [Read the rest of this entry…]

Powetcast 103: Con Artists

Sean goes to Chicago ComiCon, Zac and Zero go to Baltimore ComiCon, and then we all talked about our experiences.
“Ice cold water, One dollar!”
We also talk about whether a good Nicholas Cage movie, even one about a flaming skull that rides a motorcycle, is even possible. Oh god! The bees!

The Avengers Movie: Spy Cam Footage of Thor and Captain America!

The above image isn’t all that spoilery. You know that The Avengers is the big screen team up of some of Marvel comics’ most famous heroes. There was a quick official teaser last month. Now we have this summer’s two most popular characters, Captain America and Thor, on set and in costume.

The footage after the cut of course is missing all the special effects work you would expect from this movie, but some might consider it a spoiler so watch at your own risk. You’ll find a gallery of still images at SplashNews

Gamescom 2011: Uncharted 3 Trailer and Footage

I’ve only just started digging through the trailers and footage from Gamescom in Germany, but I’m already sick of hearing that mildly british voice say “pegi 16” or “pegi 18” at the top of each video.
Once you get past that irrelevant rating system (to our North American readership at least), this video will show you some Uncharted 3 action. Here we see a bit more of Drake boarding that plane that ends up in flames in the initial announcement of Uncharted 3.

After the cut, find off camera footage of the gameplay demo.

Coming Soon: Masters Of The Universe Movie Commentary

20 years before Michael Bay tried his hand at Transformers, another toy line crossed the line into live action. Masters Of The Universe is an honestly well done movie starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as Skeletor. Really, for a movie made with 1987 technology, it packs some pretty good action and visual effects. Its short comings are not unlike most 80s action movies: silly plot, some hammy acting, and a lot of posturing.

We’ve recorded a commentary track for this movie intended to be played in sync with the DVD. The DVD is available for less than $5 on Amazon right now. We’re going to release the show on August 31, 2011, and it will be available in our archives here. This is the first time we’re doing this, but it won’t be the last! We’re giving you a couple weeks of advance notice so you’ve got time to order the DVD or dig your copy out of storage or whatever you need to do. In the mean time, dig the teaser video posted above.
