Canceled Part 5: A Maximum Letdown Special

gaminggraveyard

This past memorial day, we remembered the brave men and women in our military who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We as gamers also remember the many games that have been left on the cutting room floor, some due to budget issues, others due to executive meddling, and others due to censorship. This list of titles once again mentions 10 games that didn’t make it past previews and concept stages. Some titles we were better off without. However, other titles were potential classics that were killed off before their time. All games mentioned deserved their time in the spotlight, even if metacritic would have given them a rating of only 5.5.

SDCC 2011 – Speilberg’s Terra Nova Pilot Debut

The first half of the pilot for the new FOX series produced by Steven Speilberg debuted this morning at San Deigo Comic Con – Terra Nova – which is about time travel and dinosaurs and “Won’t have a T-Rex”, as viewers were assured. IGN reports;

There are definitely some really interesting scenes here and the concept itself a futuristic world where pollution and overpopulation have doomed humanity, which then resorts to using a wormhole, and a lottery-system, to take people back 85 million years to try and create a new society is fascinating.

If you have no idea what Terra Nova is and haven’t heard about it until now, check out the original trailer –

As soon as the pilot is uploaded, we’ll add it to this article. The two-hour pilot of Terra Nova premieres on 9/26 at 8pm on FOX.

JJ Abrams’ Super 8 Superbowl Trailer & Details

We first got wind of the next film from JJ Abrams way back in summer 2010. We figured it might be some kind of monster movie or alien movie, and we still don’t know everything. We do get a vibe of classic Spielberg in the short clip, which is exactly what they were going for.

The LA Times has an interview with Abrams where he finally spills some details about the movie and how it started as two movies and became one.

The buzz for Super 8 is already reaching a fever pitch, with some saying it rivals the spots for Thor, Captain America, and Transformers 3.

Does this wow you more than Red Skull, Loki, and a full Decepticon invasion?

Powet Alphabet: I is for Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Since the alphabet is the building block of our language, the Powet Alphabet is the building block of what makes us geeks.

Surely Indiana Jones belongs in any list of the greatest characters ever put on film. Aside from the role as the (also list worthy) Han Solo, Indy is what defines Harrison Ford as a tough, charismatic actor.
He was introduced in the film “Raiders of The Lost Ark” and thats a great movie. But I’m going to focus on the movie where the character’s name actually appears above the title, “Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom”
I know this article series is supposed to focus on a lot of stuff that we as geeks either do or should respect. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is maybe the antithesis of that. We must know it so that we may learn its mistakes.
