Shock and awe has gripped the Nintendo DS and Transformers fans alike as they new licensed game based on the 2007 Transformers movie is blowing away expectations. Our friend Tigerpaw elaborates:
My initial impressions on these games? Good with a capital G. The graphics are great. The FMV intro is amazing and the in game graphics are well-rendered and amazingly well detailed. Audio is top notch too, with all the character voice overs you could possibly want. Gameplay is solid along with solid controls. Players will have a blast stomping and racing all over the 3D environment. I’m not really far enough in to comment on the story but it’s looking pretty good so far. While it’s a really cool single player game, I think it may shine even more in multiplayer, where some great melee battles are sure to be had. Big thumbs up.
More poweteers chime in on our forums! This is great news for those of us awaiting the console releases this week.
Finally, the triumphant return of the Grandpappy of action/shooter/platformers, (and more importantly, a return to sweet, sweet 2-D). Set to be released sometime in 2007, players will take control of one of four characters, (including the unfortunately named Lance Bean), and blast their way through horizontally side scrolling levels as well as vertically between the DS’s duel screens. Check out the official press release after the jump.
With E3 a scant few weeks away, we can expect to see the game in motion soon.

In keeping with the apparent Wii theme of the day, we have for you a short film that just went up yesterday which answers the question, “What will you do when the (Nintendo) revolution comes?”

This week’s 1up Show has probably one of the best clips I’ve ever seen them do. This DJ turned a set of Wii remotes into scratching tools for his sets. Absolutely awesome.
For those who know, http://www.smashbros.com has been updating daily with interesting little snippets of information and gameplay details about the anticipated Wii release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl. These updates have been occurring for a number of weeks. So why make a fuss about today’s update? Well, because they have added a short music clip that remixes one of my favorite songs in all of video-game-dom, (it’s a word, look it up).

Now that we’ve got a release date, Nintendo just released a new batch of screens for Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. We’ve got a new logo, some random arm shots using that grapple beam, and one group shot of the other hunters.
Hopefully some new gameplay video will show up soon.
I seriously doubted they could get the game out before fall, and was betting we’d see a November release.
Now the long awaited 3rd installement in the Metroid Prime series has a release date: August 20th. Which means I better get a Wii by August 19th.
Also on August 20th, Nintendo will publish a sequel to Brain Age on DS, and many more DS and Wii titles are on the way beyond that. Sadly the list has many licensed games from movies or cartoons, but on the bright side there are only 3 Megaman games!
In 1994, when it was still two separate from Square, Enix released this action RPG for the Super Nintendo. Although This game is the second part of a trilogy that includes Soulblazer and Terranigma (only released in Europe), you don’t have to play Soulblazer at all in order to enjoy this game. (In fact, the only link between the two is the appearance of a Soulblazer boss in a hidden level of the game.) Playing as Will, you and your friends travel the world during the age of exploration. You’ll visit real life locales such as Angkor Wat, The Great Pyramid of Egypt, and The Great Wall of China in your quest to stop a comet from approaching Earth. You’ll gain two allies, both with different abilities, whom you can change into when needed. This game stands along side Zelda and Secret of Mana as one of the best action RPGS available on the Super Nintendo. Hopefully we can expect a virtual console release sometime in the near future.
